Hi!

Time for the new devlog post.

I can call the past week a week of tests, experiments and ruined nerves.

Back in the last post I wrote that the working version of the game has a problem with FPS. Even on my desktop computer of not the weakest configuration there were noticeable lags (AMD Ryzen 7 4700G with Radeon Graphics 3.60 GHz, 32 Gb RAM). It is possible to play, but very uncomfortable.

On my laptop (AMD A6-9220e 1.6GHz, 8 Gb RAM) the gameplay turns into a slide show! It is absolutely impossible to play such a game!

I wanted to ignore it for now and continue building game locations. I would come back to the lag problem later. However, I caught myself thinking that this problem does not give me a rest.

The first thing that came to my mind was to reduce the size of the locations and the number of objects on the locations. That's what I spent most of my time doing this week. I've been cutting the finished locations into pieces, and experimenting a lot with the number and placement of objects. My actions had an effect, and the game started to play fine on the desktop computer. On the laptop, however, there were still noticeable lags. Nevertheless, it was already playable.

I was desperate to make the game better, attributing the problems to the defects of the Construct game engine. Today I created the working build of the game, and before writing this post, I decided to dig into the code a bit... How happy I was when I was able to eliminate the problem of lags when playing the game on my laptop! Just by chance I was able to find out that the problem was in one of the standard behaviors for objects. By removing this behavior, I was able to increase FPS!

I did not remake the working build, because in the new version, due to the disabling of the standard behavior, there are bugs. These bugs should now be fixed by coding. Therefore, the new version of the build will be posted on a virtual disk for patrons in a week.

Today I am posting an interim version.

P. S. The swimming costume is deliberately drawn on the girl from the level screenshot, so that the image complies with Patreon rules. In the game build, the girls are completely naked.
