Preview - Strawberri Daylily

Strawberri was your everyday fairy, living in the fae forests. Picking flowers, healing wounded animals, staying away from the wondering eyes of human... She could never understand why she had to hide herself for her whole life. The illusion of being "free" was a simple but effective lie they've been told for all of their lives. Fairies have strong magic. Maybe not as powerful as mages and elves but still, they could cure most of the illness. They could grow any plant in the soil without needing any seed, sunlight or water. And these are only the very few of their capable magic. Yet, instead of using them for good, they were told to stay inside the forest, hide well and they are good to live. And this was called being "free".

How?

Strawberri was feeling trapped with hundreds of invisible chains. She was young, ambitious and capable. She just wanted to be free. To be seen and to be known. So she strayed the path she's been following for tens of years. Her wings took her to the human village nearby. Younglings had no idea what a "fairy" is. Kids were staring at the flying figure and they were thinking she was a beautiful creature. Some kids were circling around her, smiling and spraying happiness. Strawberri realized, she never felt this alive in years. It was a precious moment for her.

But then, elders gathered around the village and started screaming mad, "Curse! Curse came to town! Hide your kids! Our end is nigh!". Strawberri was confused and had no idea what was going on. She started to look around to see a monster. There was no monster. So why were the elders screaming like they are losing a limb? She looked down and saw the trembling kids. These kids were spreading joy five minutes ago. It was that moment she realized, she was the curse they were talking about. She felt a feeling she has never experienced before. It was heart wrenching, sorrowful thing to feel. How could it started happy yet turned into this mess within a blink?

She just couldn't let this happen and let villagers to spread the news of fairies being the reason of this chaos. What would happen to her folk if the humans invaded their home? She couldn't think straight and made a decision.

She cast an ancient magic. It was forbidden and hasn't been cast for centuries. If she could manage to cast the magic, everything would be just fine and they would accept her as she is. In the end, she had no ill intention. The magic was too complex and Strawberri wasn't bearing that strong magic.

Everything. blew. up. Just like that, everywhere filled with red fluid. The elders screaming and running, were quiet now. Not just them, but even the little ones. The village painted red. Strawberri blend in perfeclty with the village's new color.

What she had done?

She just lost it. How could she do this? How did she really became what elders called her? A curse- how did she became a curse? She was- she is the curse!

Starting from that moment, every living being called her the "Red Curse". Despite of her good intentions, things went terribly wrong. And she is now on the run. Hiding from even her own folk. The chains she were escaping became the nails on her coffin.

How could she redeem herself?
