"I have an Immortal Treasure here, the Flowing Sand Skirt. It's wearer can withstand all the storms in the Boundary Lake without expending any spiritual energy." A disciple from the Bai family couldn't stand by, and he approaches.
"You carry around a woman's long skirt with you? How thoughtful." Bai Su smiles and glances at Su Tingyun. "Do you want it?"
Su Tingyun looks around. They have already come out. She could see the sky above her head. What use does she have for a treasure to resist the storms of the Boundary Lake?
She shakes her head but still thanks the other.
Then, she takes a step forward, and collapses directly from the lake to the bank. The sky is clear, the sea of grass ripples, a gentle breeze brushes her face, and spiritual energy pervades like clouds.
Su Tingyun takes a deep breath, feeling relaxed all over.
"This is the True Immortal Realm. I'll take you to the Tianhe River," Bai Su leisurely closes the umbrella. As he does, the umbrella handle turns slightly, and a few water droplets splash, drawing colorful arcs in the air.
There are many Boundary Lakes in the True Immortal Realm, hundreds or even thousands of them, large and small. However, a Boundary Lake of the lower-level realm connecting to the Upper Realm is fixed. The Boundary Lake that Su Tingyun's group used to ascend is quite remote, without any records of a lower realm cultivator ascending. And so, the Boundary Monument by the lake doesn't have a name, meaning it's for an unnamed realm.
Su Tingyun now has the qualification to name the Nameless Realm.
However, she is not good at giving names, and considering that this body is not originally hers, Su Tingyun currently has no interest in naming. She just wants to hurry to the Tianhe River and see if the water there can meet the requirements of the Bone Ring.
The Boundary Lake is remote, conveniently not far from the Tianhe River. Su Tingyun and Bai Su quickly arrive near said river, taking only a quarter of an hour. As for the other Bai Family cultivators, they don't come along at this time.
"Ninth Elder, can we disperse now? Fellow Daoist Su seems to be quite close to Bai Su."
"Big Bai gets along well with him too."
Everyone has completely accepted this crude name for the Guardian Word Spirit.
Bai Changge: "..."
The person whom Word Spirit hates the most is him, never allowing him to get within a zhang. This really leaves his heart cold.
"Disperse? What disperse? You, you, and you!" He points to the three individuals with the highest cultivation levels present, "Ensure their safety at all times. Not even a slight mishap for Big Bai is allowed!"
"Yes, Ninth Elder!"
The three then head towards the Tianhe River, while the rest naturally return to the Bai Clan first.
The Upper Realm, to be precise, is divided into the True Immortal Realm and the True Demon Realm, resembling the 'Yin and Yang' symbol. The Tianhe River completely separates the Immortal and Demon realms.
Righteous cultivators ascend to the True Immortal Realm.
Cultivators on the Demonic Path ascend directly to the True Demon Realm, with no direct interaction between the realms. This arrangement might seem peculiar, but it has persisted for millions of years, and everyone has grown accustomed to it.
However, with the current drying up of the Tianhe River and many areas experiencing a halt in the flow, the power of the borders gradually weakens. There is concern that, one day, the boundaries between the Immortal and Demon realms will merge, leading to an unavoidable, large-scale war.
Su Tingyun and Bai Su reach a location along the Tianhe River with water. The river itself is several dozen zhangs wide, but most areas are just rockery. It's only at the lowest part does a tiny stream flow, like a delicate ribbon attached to the sun-bleached stones, appearing remarkably small.
Su Tingyun jumps into the Tianhe River, walking along the water's edge with each step. She then puts her hand in, gently stirring the water.
The river water is slightly cool, like drizzling snow that rushes straight into her mind, causing her to cry out from the chill.
Bai Su, who's been standing aside while using his divine sense to monitor the surroundings, hears the commotion and immediately employs a big grappling technique, grabbing Su Tingyun, who is crouched by the riverbank. It's like lifting a small chicken. However, he is met with Su Tingyun's sad expression.
"What’s wrong?"
The truth is, she was quite happy after breaking through to the Mahayana realm. However now, she has suddenly realized that her cultivation level is unexpectedly weak. Being grabbed by Bai Su like this, she has no resistance whatsoever...
In the past, when her cultivation was low, she was roughly grabbed and tossed around by others. How come now, with her higher cultivation, she still receives the same treatment?
Is she starting all over again? This is too frustrating. Plus, the ring didn't react just now, indicating that this water doesn't meet the requirements. The double blow has dampened Su Tingyun's enthusiasm.
Without explaining anything, Bai Su loosens his grip. Just as he is about to ask if this water can be used, he sees her suddenly widen her eyes. It's as if the sky above is reflected in her eyes, clear and flawless, like a wash of azure.
Su Tingyun had just injected her consciousness into the ring.
When she previously reached into the water, there wasn't a particularly strong reaction. However, now, she clearly senses that there's water inside the bone ring.
When the other elements among the Five Elements were incorporated into the ring, there had been some kind of sensation. But this time, there was no reaction at all. It's only now that she realizes that a tremendous change has suddenly occurred within the world of the bone ring.
Fine drizzle falls, moistening everything silently.
Hongmeng emerges, and purple energy comes from the east. (Hongmeng is associated with "primordial chaos", or the concept before the universe takes its form)
Heaven and earth are born in her hands.
