I get that ZekeΒ΄s situation is suspicious but he is clearly just jealous. Just accept that she doesnΒ΄t want that relationship anymore. There is too much baggage. I think ZekeΒ΄s explanation makes sense if you think about what we know. His sister died, he was responsible. His parents may or may not also blamed him. He developed a drinking problem from it (he mentioned being in the AA) and then he vanished for a year. I really donΒ΄t think it would be easy to just go to his mom and be like "Hi, IΒ΄m here, how are you?" Although breaking into her house to evaluate if she is doing ok also might not be the best approach.
