Opening a Soyuz Spacecraft Globus Instrument
Added 2023-02-11 08:26:48 +0000 UTCThanks to Marcel, we finally got our hands on a Globus from the Soyuz capsule. Enjoy this rough cut of the raw video footage (let me know if the Patreon video player works OK on such long videos - if not I can upload on YouTube). This one of my all time favorite space instruments, a mechanical analog orbit calculator, that poetically displays your position on a painted earth globe. This particular one is a bit broken as you'll see, but we think we can repair it for Marcel. Ken has already published an article about his initial findings here:

We are working on making it functional again, and Master Ken is currently trying to figure out where all the cut wires are supposed to go. Which is no easy task, as we discovered there are many more cut wires than shown here. Basically, all the wires harnesses have been cut through in several places. Hopefully we can figure it all out and repair this beauty.

2023-02-11 21:22:29 +0000 UTCHi Marc, would you consider also posting private YouTube links for these longer Patreon-only videos? I watch YouTube exclusively from my TV (Apple TV in my case, but same would apply for Roku, Firestick, etc). The shorter Patreon-only videos are aren't so bad to watch from my phone because they're so brief, but I'd really like to watch 5+ minute videos on my TV. I've tried casting from the Patreon app on my phone to my TV, but the resolution is really bad, and/or the playback frequently pauses for buffering.
