Commodore History Part 8 - The Amiga 1000

Well, here we are.  Took a little more than 3 weeks to make this.  Subtitles and thumbnail will be finished tomorrow. If you find any inaccuracies, let me know. Although I've already been checking in periodically with some Amiga experts as I made this to make sure everything was accurate.  So hopefully we're all good!

Commodore History Part 8 - The Amiga 1000

For simple reason: Commodore bankrupted in 1994. And management was terrible, so writing was on the wall way back since 1988...

Had a friend who had an amiga growing up, lol he always gave the speech of how superior amiga games were to DOS, they were but it just couldn't keep up with the times I guess. Always loved how they looked, especially when I still had a tandy in the corner I would learn to play with

As an owner of A500 back in the day, this was great and I'm waiting for the next one. I've seen many videos about Amiga, but this one contained a lot of tidbits and useful information that was new to me.

Awesome...for some reason I thought that the A500 was significantly better than the A1000. I wanted to buy a 1000 for the form factor, but the A500 beat it out. I just don't remember what it was...maybe you will cover it later.

This video is superb!!

I was shocked when I was finished watching the video and saw that it was almost 30 minutes long. It felt like 7-8 minutes! Great video, looking forward to the next one!

An article on the phoenix board is here and may interest you...... https://www.amigalove.com/viewtopic.php?t=476 .

In 1989 (I think, or soon after) I fitted my A1000 with an Australian replacement motherboard called the 'Phoenix' which vastly improved performance with an upgraded Agnes chip, more RAM, Kickstart and Workbench in ROM and a SCSI port for the inclusion of a Hard Drive!! A massive 40MB!

Great video. I watched this on my new 14" macbook pro. I appreciate you taking the time to pipe the sound directly into the video. The new Mac made it sound great! Just like the my Amiga 500 did with the boosted speakers.

I loved my Amiga 500+. My first computer.

I finished watching. Great video! One thing I _really_ missed was Boing! the bouncing red-white ball that became the unofficial Amiga logo. It was the first time I saw an Amiga, and the sound moving from left to right, with the non-black shadow, blew me away.
