A.I. Video has been deleted

So.. every now and then I try something different on my channel.  And usually, at least some people complain about it and unsubscribe.  Yet, at the same time, experimentation is the only way for me to find out what works and what doesn't and grow as a channel.

Well, the A.I. video received more backlash and record number of dislikes.

The cruel irony is, I thought it was going to be one of my best videos.  I spent almost 2 weeks working on that video and had been planning it for over a year.  I put it off until I was doing YouTube full-time so that I would have time to make it.

One big misconception that I realized was abounding was that I was trying to insinuate a big government conspiracy.  And that isn't really at all what I was saying, but looking at the video now I can see how people would think that.  In actuality, I was thinking more along the lines of some random guy like me creating it in his basement and just deciding not to tell anyone about it, knowing the consequences.

Also, a lot of people seemed to misunderstand exactly what sort of A.I. I was talking about.  And since I was not referring to things like self-driving cars, and instead about a sentient, self-aware being, like is often portrayed in fiction, I used those exact fictional characters as examples, since I felt they were the end-goal of what I was talking about.

And to rub salt in the wound, I got a copyright infringement notice this morning from CBS due to the 30-second clip I used from Star Trek.  I could have possibly appealed this decision and in all likelihood I would have won.  (it was fair use) However, I was already so disappointed in the reception of the video that I just decided it would be best to delete it.

I've never received a copyright infringement for using a movie clip before, although I always knew it was possible.  My plan was that if it ever happened, I'd simply re-work the video to remove or reduce the use of said clip and then re-upload.  However, in this case, I think the whole video itself needs some re-working.

So, I've just pulled the video down.  And I'm going to shelve it for the time being.  However, when my spirits are back up, I'm going to go back to it and re-work it some to make it less of a "master conspiracy theory" that people are getting from it and fix some of the other wordings and things that people complained about.  So maybe 6 to 12 months from now it will be re-uploaded and you'll see a lot of the same footage, but a lot of changes.

This was a learning experience.  And I'm a bit frustrated since I just lost almost 2 weeks of work, plus I seem to have disenfranchised a lot of my viewers.   So for the near future I'm going to be concentrating on more traditional content instead.  So stay tuned.
