Camcorder that uses Cassette Tapes

Another early release while I finished the closed captioning...

Camcorder that uses Cassette Tapes

Comments

great review and very entertaining and educational . I loved all the "wait, it gets worse". it was especially funny to hear you say "what do I really think of this?" after you had just told us specifically what you thought was bad about it. I think we already knew what you thought of it.

What a bizarre, interesting piece of vintage tech. Excellent review, very informative!

Chris Jeter

A few people pointed that out. So I'm replying just so you don't think I'm ignoring you. I thought about correcting it, but realizing it was going to take 2-3 hours to fix the bitmap, re-insert into video, re-render, re-upload to youtube. I decided it wasn't enough of a mistake to detract from the video.. so I just let it go. Thanks for the heads up, though.

The 8-Bit Guy

Am I getting something wrong, or is this camcorder recording its video signal digitally (i.e. using pixels), while typical VHS was analog? (i.e. using lines) If so, wouldn't the definition/bandwidth ratio be better with analog?

Heads up Audio is misspelled at 1:26. Or maybe I've been misspelling it for years and Auido is correct. Great Video as always.

I have plans...perhaps you'll see something in 41 days ;-)

Techmoan

I'm glad you played the tape back in an audio player...these kind of things never occur to me, but always get asked in the comments. I've been asked what would happen if you play a CED on a record player or a DVHS in a standard VHS player. Of course the answer to all these things is...not a lot, but some people like to see these failures demonstrated.

Techmoan

If TechMoan reads this, i dare you to shoot a whole episode on that thing! :D

BastetFurry

TechMoan and 8-Bit Guy in the same video is too cool. And, for as crappy as some of that footage is, I found it somewhat intriguing. Thanks for the great video!

Great for making a moon landing reenactment :) nice video!

Bram Kessels

This was great! Midway through I started writing a question here about how recorded the video directly from the camera and before I got to the end of the sentence, you started answering it. Brilliant!
