The date is set...

Ok supporters, the time is approaching faster than I thought.  I told my boss that January would be my last month to work at my regular job.   So in roughly 5 to 6 weeks I will be transitioning to making youtube videos full time.

Originally I set a goal of $3,000.  Obviously I'm only at 30% of that goal.  But Patreon is already providing 25% of my YouTube related income.   My hope is that once I am putting out more regular content that both my Patreon and my Adsense revenue will increase.

I'm really looking forward to bringing you more content.  I have at least a year's worth of stuff already scripted out and then there is also the occasional spur-of-the-moment thing that pops up.

One huge advantage I will have that I didn't have before is a more flexibile schedule.  Just to explain a few scenarios of how that will help:

1) I often struggle to find times to film scenes or record narration due to the noise in my house of my wife, my daughter, and any guests they may have over, or the TVs or stereos they may be operating at the time.  Not to mention the constant interruptions of "can you stop what you are working on and help me with this or that."  Now, I will have all day to film and record without interruption.

2) When filming outdoors, I have typically only had the weekends available.  Now I will be able to shoot more scenes outdoors when needed.

3) Restorations - Ah yes, I've got a ton of stuff just waiting to be repaired and restored, inlcuding retrobrite.  But for that, I need the sun.  And usually by the time I get home from work there is insufficient sunlight to do this.  So now I will be able to make all of those restoration videos that I've had piling up to do.  I have probably 10 systems just waiting in the attic for this, just off the top of my head there is an Amiga 500, Commodore 128, Atari ST, and a few Yamaha keyboards that need it.

4) Thrifting - I'd like to go on more computer thrifting and hunting type adventures like LGR does.  But that requires free time during the day.  So now that will be possible.

5) Collaborations - I want to do more collaborations with other Youtube creators, but my previous schedule made that impractical.  On that same line, I will be able to have more studio guest stars since I'll be able to work with their schedules.

So I think you get the idea.  There will be a lot of positive changes to the show in the months ahead.  I would expect, if everything goes to plan, that you'll start seeing the fruits of this around March, considering the amount of time it takes to finish projects.

So again, I want to send out a thanks to all of you guys because you have made it possible.
