Baihe was the owner of an extraordinary Skill, [Great Sorceress (S)]!
With this Skill, she could create new Spells based on her Elemental Affinity, Mana, and Imagination.
The deeper her understanding of Magic and its mechanics, the stronger and more effective her Spells became.
Having trained nonstop for months, Baihe abilities had grown drastically.
“{Ethereal Snow Veil}!”
FLUOSH!
A cold wave of ethereal ice particles enveloped our bodies in an instant. Everyone gasped in awe as the oppressive heat outside became more bearable, though still intense.
The veil’s refreshing coldness even made breathing easier, despite a few flaws. I noticed it was starting to melt slowly.
It might only last for about half an hour, but for her first attempt, it was impressive!
“Seems like it worked!” Jack said. “This is useful, Baihe. I had no idea you could craft such practical spells on the spot.”
“Ah, yes, I’ve been practicing nonstop...” Baihe nodded. “I want to be as useful as I can... it’s the least I could do after you took me in, Jack...”
“Isn’t she lovely?” Henrietta giggled, patting her head. “Well, Hilda, with Baihe on our side, I think we can handle the heat just fine! What do you think?”
“It’s great, yeah, the effects are solid,” Hilda nodded. “I hadn’t considered the temperature of this place. I should’ve prepared an accessory to counter the heat... damn it, sorry about that.”
“It’s fine,” I said. “I believe this will work well enough. And when it fades, Baihe can recast it. I brought plenty of Mana Potions I synthesized myself.”
“Sweet! Then we’re more than ready,” Henrietta nodded. “Let’s keep moving. We should probably leave the car behind, though. I don’t want it to melt.”
“I’ll store it in my shadows,” Jack said, expanding his shadow to swallow the entire van, making it vanish. “Done.”
“Let’s go!”
I carefully released part of my Aura. I didn’t want to overwhelm everyone, but the Heart of Love and Hope was brimming with Essence I needed to expend to avoid overloading, so I channeled it into an Aura around me, boosting everyone’s stats.
“What’s this? A new ability?” Jack asked.
“Something like that! I found a way to strengthen others by sharing my Aura,” I explained. “It’s not a full Radiance, but it should give everyone a slight boost.”
It also protected them, healed minor injuries, and enhanced their physical abilities and martial arts range.
“Hmm, this energy feels familiar. Is this the Ki we got in that dungeon?” Kevin asked.
“Uh, yeah,” I nodded.
“Wow! Anna, you keep getting stronger...!” Annabelle giggled. “I wish I had your growth speed... I’ve been kind of stagnant since the dungeon we visited.”
“Me too...” Baihe sighed.
“Everyone will grow stronger, I’m sure,” I said. “You just need to absorb strong Monster Cores, which is one reason we’re here.”
Once they absorb a few, I’m confident I can upgrade their Sponsorship to grant more Stats, Skills, and Privileges.
For now, though, I want to push them to their limits and see how far they can grow without extra help.
My Aura is mainly to support that, ensuring they don’t tire too quickly or suffer too much from minor wounds, bleeding, or similar issues.
As we trekked through the Volcanic Landscape, I glanced at the Quest Hephaestus had given me earlier.

[Having helped Hilda progress this far, he seems very keen on you and expects you not to disappoint him in this endeavor.]

So we’re here for Vulcanus, yes. He’s likely from Tiamat’s Fire Dragon Family, because what else could he be?
Might as well ask Gram, though.
“Hey, Gram, does the name Vulcanus ring any bells?”
[“Vulcanus...? Hmmm... I... I think...? Huh, that name does sound familiar but... ahh, let me remember.”]
“So where do we go? Is there a map for this place? Does anyone have a skill for that?” Kevin wondered.
“Aren’t you the one with the God Eye here?” I asked. “Use your eye to scan the area.”
“What? You think Odin will be fine with me using it for something like that?” Kevin wondered.
“Just do it. You need to train your abilities to use them in any situation. You must adapt to anything, Kevin,” I said.
“To anything she says...” he muttered. “Hm, okay, let me see...”
His eyes shone brightly as he activated his Odin’s Artificial Eye Skill, scanning the area with a wave of golden divine light.
FLASH!
His eyebrows shot up almost instantly. He was stunned by what his ability revealed.
“Eh? It worked? I’ve got a whole mental map in my head now! I had no idea it could be used like this?”
Of course he doesn’t, this guy... He figures it out much later!
It’s such a simple application, though. He’s so focused on fighting that he never explores how his abilities can serve other purposes.
“Great! So you’ll be our guide then, Kevin,” Henrietta said.
RUMBLE!
But as we pressed forward, danger soon loomed. The ground trembled as we were nearing a large, boiling lake of lava. Something emerged from within, accompanied by flames surging from every direction, gathering in the skies above.
