[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} seems confused about these new Dragon Constellations, saying that they must not be from this Universe.]
[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} is happy his father has appeared! He says: “Father! Please send me my allowance! Being so poor is embarrassing!”]
[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} sighs, saying that his son overspends his allowance on unnecessary things and that he needs to learn how to better manage his resources.]
[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} cries.]
[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} pats his son on the head, saying that he has done great things nonetheless and that his Avatar is an admirable and powerful man. He says that he will send his son his allowance if he promises to spend it wisely.]
[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} nods, saying that he is a changed dragon!]
[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} smiles proudly, sending the yearly allowance.]
[The Cosmic Throne {Golden Scales of Sunlight’s Brilliance} smirks deviously, leaving.]
[The Cosmic Throne {Father of Harmonious Primordial Radiance} is shocked, chasing after his son.]
Uhh, okay then.
There’s more family drama than I imagined! But whatever, sure, that was funny.
Maybe the Yellow Dragon will finally stop being so broke, though. I hope his father sends him more allowance!
The chairman needs some new shiny skills and maybe new equipment too, now that he’s making a comeback.
“The prospects of gaining the power of Dragons seem intriguing...” Jack said. “I’ve eaten some Dragon Monsters before. The last one we hunted was an Ice Dragon Boss from that Frozen Graveyard Dungeon, but... perhaps devouring them the way I do isn’t the proper way?”
“I don’t really know,” I said. “But there’s certainly a difference between just eating something and gaining power derived from it and absorbing essence and materials into your body and developing them.”
“Hmm, not wrong,” Jack nodded.
“Hey, you don’t need any damn dragons with you!” Fenrir said, a bit jealous. “I will not tolerate a dragon speaking in your head. Only I am the voice in your head, you heard me?!”
“You make it sound like I’m schizophrenic...” Jack sighed.
“Well, kind of!” Fenrir nodded.
The mood slowly became lighter as the atmosphere relaxed while we ate. These news had to be communicated immediately to the rest of the guild and the population and couldn’t remain a secret. Henrietta, however, feared that people would panic, so she decided to first communicate it to the chairman and the Hunter Association, keeping it from the public.
Once she finished and all the information we learned was shared with the chairman, he quickly relayed it to the other representatives and then to the other Hunter Associations across different cities. Eventually, it would reach all around the globe, shared by the entire Worldwide Hunter Association Alliance.
The day didn’t end with us lazily walking back home, though. We moved to the car my brother had prepared for this road trip, a huge black van with enough space for up to seven people, sufficient for all of us to fit comfortably. There was also a lot of camping equipment prepared, food, and more, which I brought in my Item Inventory.
Gathering was the best Skill. Having something like an Item Storage has been a true lifesaver!
Once we picked up Henrietta from the Hunter Association with Kevin, we quickly set off to find Hilda, who was waiting for us near a mall.
“I was able to tell them everything I could, and I also communicated that I would be absent for a couple of days as I would go complete some unexplored dungeons outside,” Henrietta said. “Everything’s fine so far. The chairman took the news rather calmly. It sure shows he’s an experienced person in these matters.”
“Well, that’s good,” Jack nodded. “Let’s go pick up Hilda and then move on.”
As we moved through the city in the car, we quickly noticed this wasn’t a normal van at all. The reason why my brother chose this instead of flying was because he was confident in it.
This entire car was enhanced with magic crystals and materials and my brother’s shadow powers, which coursed through every inch, making it a special Shadow Relic he created.
Shadow Relics are special equipment he can create using his Shadows and other materials. They count as actual equipment with stats and abilities, and he was able to share them with others too.
And he can upgrade them by fusing more Shadows he collects from monsters, which he can later crystallize into Shadow Cores, a bunch of powers he’s now unlocking one after another!
“Ah, there she is!” Annabelle said, pointing out the window. “Hildaaaa!”
“Hey!” I said.
“Oh! You guys are here!” She ran to the van as we opened the door and let her in. “Looks like we got this big fancy van for the road trip?”
“Yeah, we’re camping outside,” Jack said. “I hope you don’t mind that.”
“Oh, don’t worry. Even then, I got my Forge where I can even sleep inside if I wanted,” Hilda said. “So don’t worry! I technically can invite everyone there too.”
“Oh, that sounds nice!” Annabelle said happily.
“Yeah, I remember that Anna had something similar?” Baihe asked.
“Ah, yeah, it’s a place where I keep the Demons I sealed, though,” I said. “Not really a place I would like you to go and stay...”
As I discussed with everyone, Hilda noticed Henrietta and her brother were on board.
“Oh? Well, well! I didn’t expect you two to join as well! The news about the pregnancy is going everywhere in the city,” she said. “Congrats!”
“Thank you, Hilda,” Henrietta said. “And yeah, we decided to join so we can grow stronger. We’ll need as much strength as we can for what’s coming.”
“For what’s coming? What is it?” Hilda wondered.
We looked at one another for a moment before my brother finally spoke. “Well, we can talk about that while on the road. It’ll be a long way to your town, even with this car, so let’s get comfortable.”
We explained to Hilda everything we knew about the incoming Demonic Invasion while my brother drove the van around the city, finally reaching the gates. After telling the guards we were going out, they allowed us, though with reluctant glares.
The gates opened as our car sped out quickly, and then they closed right after we left. They couldn’t risk any wild monster getting inside, after all.
It’s not uncommon for hunters to go beyond the walls into the wastelands, as we’ve already briefly visited the outside world in the Hunter Drills near the Ruins of the City, which used to be much larger before.
This time, however, we were taking a different road, going northeast to an abandoned town where Hilda came from. Thankfully, Hilda gave us a map to follow, a magic one that even showed our current position within the map, so it wasn’t hard to locate her area.
The thing is, we would have to sit and wait, but that was part of road trips: listening to music, drinking cold soda, feeling the wind and the sun above the skies... and hearing the roars of monsters nearby.
“GROOAR!”
The rumbling footsteps of a pack of dinosaurs reverberated behind the van. They resembled tyrannosaurus rexes but with red skin and colorful feathered crests above their heads.
“Monsters?! I guess they were really going to come and annoy us...” Baihe said, shocked by their presence as she looked behind the van, beginning to conjure her magic as magic circles appeared in her hands.
“Shall we take care of them?” Kevin asked, looking concerned.
“Long-range attacks should do,” Jack said. “Leaving the van is prohibited.”
“Alright!” I nodded. “Okay, guys, let’s blast them!”
As I led them, everyone pointed their hands or weapons at the monsters chasing us. The ceiling of the van was retractable, so it quickly allowed us to get a better grasp of the situation.
“{Icicle Rain}!”
Baihe was the first to conjure her magic. Over a dozen blue magic circles appeared in front of her, firing icicles against the reptilian monsters one by one, impaling their bodies, freezing them, and making them trip.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
And after that, explosions of ice further froze and weakened the monsters, making them fall into pieces on the paved roads.
