A friendly reminder

I’ve had to block several people this week because of their behavior in the comments on Patreon. I’ve worked so hard over the last three years to build this community, and I want this to be a safe space for all of us to share our love for movies and shows together.
Disagreements over movies are of course okay and bound to happen. Polls are a great way to see what the majority of people want me to watch, and it’s the clearest way to decide what to watch next based on your input. I have this community here to guide me, and I really am so grateful you’re here. You may not like everything that I watch (and that’s okay, I don’t like everything I watch!), but I try to mix up genres so that hopefully there’s something for everyone.
When the argument reaches to the point where insults and slurs are thrown out, that is clearly unacceptable. I know I’m preaching to the choir here because I’ve already blocked the people who have created issues this week. If you’re still here, know that I am grateful for you, and I’m so glad you’re here. I honestly should’ve blocked some of these people a while ago, and I want to move forward to continue creating a fun, welcoming environment over here.
I hate that an announcement like this even has to be made, but that’s the internet for ya. Thank you all for being here, and I can’t wait to see what we watch next together!

I have to give Patreon props for its block user feature. Most places seem to just show the blocked user in question with a little disclaimer that "you have blocked posts from this user" and you still see replies from others to that person. Patreon on the other hand seems to just completely erase those people's posts and replies to their comments from my feed at all. I nearly responded to a recent comment on the channel with some insults in response to the person in question's rant, but thought better of it. For anyone reading this, I highly recommend just using the block feature instead of getting into fights with strangers online and giving content creators massive headaches from having to deal with it.

2025-07-25 19:45:27 +0000 UTCAs someone who moderates comments on my own website and is an admin on Facebook groups, I feel this post and know how hard it was to write. It's challenging to block people who clearly deserve it, particularly if you tend to look for the good in people. But know it's for the best for the rest of your fans that you remove the bad apples. And know that you're giving way more thought about blocking them than they care about you or anyone else who's here.
