I think the thing with the references is that in the first film, if you didn't get a reference the joke still landed on its own. Whereas in this film, if you don't get the reference the joke doesn't work. I still enjoy it, but it's just "a good movie" as opposed to "a GREAT TIME!".

2025-05-30 16:22:08 +0000 UTCOne of the problems with the sequel was the new director is an a*hole who badmouthed the first one calling it a dumb movie, and wanted to make this one ironic like, 'yeah we know this is dumb let's laugh along at it'; Mike Myers only seemed to be there because it was in his contract; Dana Carvey rescued the movie bringing his A-game
