GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING VIETNAM! Here's the full length reaction to (you guessed it) Good Morning, Vietnam! This was the winner of this month's spinning wheel. Robin Williams was incredible in this! Enjoy!

Hi Addie. If you want a good ensemble comedy with Mr. Williams try “The Birdcage’ (1996). Nathan Lane, Gene Hackman (RIP), Dianne Wiest, Calista Flockhart, and Christine Baranski.

If you enjoyed this, you HAVE to do Awakenings. Another Robin Williams special, with my favorite Robert DeNiro performance of all time.

Cool, been a while since I've seen this one, it still holds up pretty well too. Not a bad pick from whoever put it on the spinny-wheel this month. 🙂 - On a tangent, Addie's comments about Robin Williams bringing joy to people at the end reminded me of how close Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve were. They met at Julliard and were best friends for decades, and Reeve was even the godfather of Williams son. And they remained lifelong friends well after the accident that paralyzed Reeve. (It's pretty touching and is mentioned a few times in the HBO documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.) P.S. If you ever do have a Robin Williams movie poll, Addie, since you've already seen my top two picks Good Will Hunting and the animated Aladdin, my future Williams votes would be The World According to Garp (1982) followed by Dead Poets Society (1989). 👍

... another Forest Whitaker movie that I'm also throwing in is Panic Room (2002), also with Jodie Foster, Dwight Yoakam, Jared Leto and Kristen Stewart. #PanicRoomForAddieCounts https://youtu.be/qIhWcPpDxWU?feature=shared

It seemed like, while I was growing up in the 70s and 80s, Vietnam was a big story point in a number of movies almost every year. I always found them fascinating and sad.

While an entertaining movie and performance by Williams, very little in the movie actually happened. The real Adrian Cronauer has stated in interviews that little of the film reflects what happened in real life, and his personality was definitely not subversive as portrayed by Robin Williams.

Phenomenon is a real good movie. I never see or hear anyone talking it though.

"Seeing as how the VP is such a VIP, shouldn't we keep the PC on the QT? Because if it leaks to the VC, he could end up MIA, and then we'd all be put on KP." My best friend and I saw this movie in the theater when it came out. We were in High School... and the number of times we used some variation of this quote was astronomical. RIP Robin.

Crimson Ace

Addie, so fun fact. Every single scene with Robin doing a comedy bit or on the radio was Improv by Robin. The director told him to just do his thing, no script other than to keep things relevant to the time period and setting, and they just kept the best bits in the movie!

Another Barry Levinson movie that I'm also throwing in is the upcoming The Alto Knights (2025) with Robert De Niro. #TheAltoKnightsForAddieCounts

You've previously seen Robert Wuhl (Sgt. Dreiwitz) as Alexander Knox in 1989's "Batman," the twins in both "Terminator 2" and "Gremlins 2," and Bruno Kirby (Lt. Hauk) as a young Clemenza in "The Godfather, Part II." For more Robin Williams, I'd highly recommend "Popeye," "The World According to Garp," "Moscow on the Hudson," "Dead Poets Society" (which I know is already on your radar), "Mrs. Doubtfire," "One Hour Photo," "Insomnia," "The Final Cut," and "The Night Listener." For more Bruno Kirby, I'd highly recommend "Tin Men" (which Barry Levinson also directed) and his 2 collaborations with Billy Crystal: "When Harry Met Sally..." and "City Slickers" (Noble Willingham, who plays Gen. Taylor here, is also in the latter). For more Forest Whitaker, I'd highly recommend his Oscar-winning turn in "The Last King of Scotland." For more from director Barry Levinson, I'd highly recommend "Diner," "The Natural," the aforementioned "Tin Men," "Rain Man," "Avalon," "Bugsy," "Wag the Dog," and "Liberty Heights."

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 I love this movie. Easily one of my favorite Robin Williams films. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. For more Robin Williams, I highly recommend the 1980 "Popeye". And for more Forrest Whitaker, I highly recommend the 1996 movie "Phenomenon". Have a great day today! 😊

GOOOOOOOOOD MORNING, ADDIE! Happy Wednesday. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Good Morning, Vietnam (1987). I own this movie and Blu-ray and I can't wait to watch it whenever I can.
