2025-02-14 21:19:51 +0000 UTCFun Q&A as always. 👍 - Good Morning Vietnam is a really good movie, nice pick. 👍 - Demolition Man is definitely a movie that’s better than it sounds like it should be. 🙂 My pick for “a lot better than expected” from recent-ish years is probably the Max show Peacemaker with John Cena. It’s a spin-off from a film that itself was a spin-off from a kind of so-so film starring a former professional wrestler, but somehow it ended up being one of the funnest shows that came out that year. 😄 - Another good follow-up baseball film is Bull Durham (and it’s another Kevin Costner baseball movie to boot, so there’s one for the Kevin Costner poll too! 🙂) - The 1980s David Lynch Dune isn’t as good as the new one, but it’s ok. 🤷♂️ (I’m not really a Lynch fan personally, I didn’t like Mulholland Drive at all honestly which his fans love, but that’s just me. ) - Mark Wahlberg has some pretty decent movies under his belt (including the ones mentioned in that question.) 🙂 Just avoid The Happening, it’s… not good. - Vsauce has a neat video “Which Way Is Down?” which delves into that question. (And like all Vsauce videos it’s worth watching! 😄)

I explained the origin of the Ohio one in the comments section on last month’s Q&A and I honestly don’t know where the Wyoming one came from, I just heard about it and thought it was funny.

"Eraserhead" is from '77 and "Blue Velvet" is from '86. 🤓

BTW, you look good with your hair up.: 1. Congratulations Ozzie! 🎉🎉🎊🎊 Your suggestion for Good Morning, Vietnam (1987) just won Addie's spinning wheel. 2. My girlfriend & I don't have any plans for Valentine's Day. She & I are just going to watch a rom-com on a streaming service, via phone. 3. Lilo & Stitch (2025) and Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning come out on the same day. May 23rd. 4. I would love to see you watch Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958). This is NOW one of my ALL-TIME favorite movies of his, alongside Psycho (1960). #VertigoForAddieCounts 5. The most recent movie that I watched in the theater was Den of Thieves 2: Pantera (2025). 6. I have some more Mark Wahlberg movies for you: Fear (1996), Boogie Nights (1997), The Corruptor (1999), The Italian Job (2003), Invincible (2006), Pain & Gain (2013), Mile 22 (2018), Instant Family (2018), Arthur the King (2024), and Flight Risk (2025). #MoreMarkWahlbergForAddieCounts 7. Only the first Evil Dead movie is the scariest. The sequels get cheesier. 8. Please watch ALL TEN Fast & Furious movies. You can space them out to every two weeks to allow for other movies as well. 9. On my Patreon DMs, I would only offer my replies to your thank you notes. 10. As I'm typing this, I just had an epiphany that all of the hard work that I do at the supermarket I work at is DEFINITELY gonna pay off, as well as the new opportunities and challenges that I face, since it's the year of the snake. 11. For me, Florence Pugh as Jean Tatlock in Oppenheimer (2023) will always be my favorite role of hers. My girlfriend likes her as Yelena in the MCU. 12. I'm excited to see your upcoming Kevin Costner poll. My suggestions are Silverado (1985), No Way Out (1987), Bull Durham (1988), Revenge (1990), Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), The Bodyguard (1992), Waterworld (1995), Tin Cup (1996), The Postman (1997) and For the Love of the Game (1999). Career-making performances from Anthony Hopkins and John Hurt. Produced by Mel Brooks but definitely not a comedy - Mel just wanted to help Lynch get his start. Dune (1984) - the only movie you'll ever see where Patrick Stewart goes into battle with a gun in one hand and a pug dog in the other. Wild At Heart (1990) - a crazy and surreal love story with Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern being the coolest human beings who ever lived. The Straight Story (1999) - the most 'normal' movie he ever made, about an old farmer taking his lawnmower on a road trip to visit his estranged dying brother. Starts out cute and folksy but gets quite poignant by the end. Sort of... Blue Velvet (1984) - ...maybe? It's a f'd-up movie but I think it doesn't quite cross the boundary. It's basically distilled Lynch, a very dark look at awful things happening in the suburbs. Lost Highway (1997) - Lynch goes full noir, a disturbing and creepy thriller but a subtle one too. Mulholland Drive (2001) - his masterpiece, a tale about dreams and nightmares, an exploration of the exploitation in Hollywood. It contains some moments of real horror, though, so there's a big heads-up there. Definitely not... Eraserhead (1979) - pure horror movie and nightmare-inducing. Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992) - incomprehensible if you haven't seen the series, and downright traumatizing if you have. Inland Empire (2006) - not fit for sane people
