Laurence Fishburne is barely in this movie, but his every line is so impactful. I don't typically like what J.J. Abrams does as a director, but this franchise was such a good fit for him. And, I mean, come on, Hoffman is insanely good in this!

"Gone Baby Gone" is a great film. Some real standout performances.

The mystery box thing is so frustrating. He’s literally telling people his movies are empty vessels.

Source Code is great. My top pick for a Michelle Monaghan movie is Gone Baby Gone. I’ve never seen a reaction to it but it is an incredible emotional roller coaster of a movie.

Jacob King

I don’t see anyone clamoring for him to get back in the director’s chair which is probably a good thing. That said, I did enjoy Super 8. It felt like a genuine love letter to 70s and 80s nostalgia. Loved the music, too.

Julian San

my favourite starting point for the franchise! lol can't wait to revisit the rest with you!

Mister Lou

Ironically, the only Abrams flick Addie hasn't seen now is "Super-8," which I'd argue is probably his best, even if it's a rather late-Gen-X nostalgia bait-y hybrid of "E.T." and "Close Encounters." I feel as though TROS may have finally exposed him to the rest of Hollywood as the one-trick pony he is. He hasn't put out a single thing in nearly 5 years now.

Philip Seymour Hoffman (RIP) and Lawrence Fishburne were so great in this movie. Fishburne had such great lines and delivery. And Hoffman was just scary good at being scary psychotic.

I am so psyched to be watching all these M.I. films again with a first timer. I have seen them all (with the exception of #2) at least a dozen times or more. Lets GO!!

Actors Greg Grunberg and Keri Russell both have early connections with director JJ Abrams. Greg was a childhood friend and Keri worked in a TV series with JJ, "Felicity". JJ sometimes casts them in smaller roles in his films - Greg was an X-Wing pilot in the "Star Wars" sequels and Keri made an appearance as a mysterious masked acquaintance of Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac). Michelle Monaghan grew up in a small town in the midwest. I'm talking REALLY small - she said on a talk show that the town's population was just over 600 people. I think it was on Conan's late night show that she said that as a teenager she won a ribbon for hog wrestling at the town fair. I guess a competitive nature takes many forms. I liked her in a sci-fi thriller where she starred opposite Jake Gyllenhaal, "Source Code", although it isn't a favorite or many fans.

If we’re going there, I’d like to also nominate Zach Snyder to only direct and stay the hell away from the typewriter.

Julian San

He and M. Night Shyamalan would be better off serving as strictly for-hire directors; just keep them far away from the story elements of the movie in question.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to sit through JJ Abrams’ Mystery Box storytelling. His movies are like junk food. Great at the time, but you feel terrible afterward.

Julian San

Great cast in this. It was fun seeing Maggie Q as part of Ethan's team, I really liked her in the TV show Nikita. 🙂

I always love watching people react to these as this is my favorite film franchise. Pretty Much It did these last year and it's equally enjoyable to watch those with him. Makes me smile knowing you enjoyed this one so much. It's my third favorite of the franchise. Fallout is number one for me, and actually the first one is still my second. Part of that could be because it was the first one I watched when only three were out at the time and it did end up my favorite franchise as mentioned before. But that one has it's own unique tone to it and is the most subdued out of all so far. But yes, this was definitely return to form and bringing the emotional character beats to the forefront that were lacking somewhat in the first one. Excited to see you continue this series, hope you enjoy the ride.

I forgot about the most intense game of Frogger scene.

And here...we...go!

Since the visual style of this movie was inspired by Enemy of the State (1998), I suggest that movie to you. It was also Filmed in Panavision (anamorphic) by Dan Mindel, the cinematographer of this movie, Star Trek (2009), Star Trek: Into Darkness (2013), The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014), Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019). #EnemyOfTheStateForAddieCounts Another movie that was Filmed in Panavision (anamorphic) by Dan Mindel that also has a scene with wind turbines is Twisters (2024). #TwistersForAddieCounts

Great reaction. My favorite film out of the franchise changes all the time for different reasons. Goes to show how much of a phenomenal franchise it is. Phillip Seymour Hoffman was brilliant as a villain in this.

Addie is about to watch Keri Russell again in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014). Speaking of Keri Russell, who plays Lindsey Farris in this movie, Zori Bliss in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) and Jill in Bedtime Stories (2008), I also suggest Honey, I Blew Up the Kid (1992), but watch Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) first. #MoreKeriRussellForAddieCounts

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 I keep forgetting that Philip Seymour Hoffman(RIP always) is in this one. Looking forward to watching your reaction to this installment of the "Mission Impossible" series later this evening. For more Johnathan Rhys Meyers(Declan Gormley) and Keri Russell(Lindsey Farris) I very highly recommend the 2007 movie they did together "August Rush". Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

It' still gets more insane from here, you still havnt seen anything yet. Let that sink in.

Happy Wednesday, Addie. Your mission continues with Mission: Impossible 3 (2006). From here on out, this franchise gets better and better as you progress with the next five movies. See you soon for Ghost Protocol (2011). BTW, nice sweatshirt.
