Omg Addie noticed the time traveler!!! ๐Ÿคฃ

I completely forgot she was in Mrs Doubtfire. I was also gonna comment that I have only seen the "new" Parent Trap once, but then I realized that 1998 could hardly be considered new and I laughed at myself.

I have a complicated relationship with this movie. I saw it for the first time when I was VERY young. I was up before my parents, looking for something to watch in my dad's DVD collection (which I was not supposed to be messing with) and found this case with a cute little furry thing on front! Cool! I sat down to watch. I was not ready for this. This movie left me scared of the dark, which had never bothered me before, and Phoebe Cates's monologue about why she hates Christmas was also how I found out there was no Santa. So, my first impression was that I hated this movie. I rewatched it when I was a bit older (10 or 11, I think) as a sort of "face your fears" thing, and the second time around I actually really liked it. It didn't scare me the way it did when I was a kid, and a lot of it was actually funny and/or cute. My dad sat down with me for the last 35 minutes or so of my second watch, and I remember saying that it was maybe the coolest Christmas movie ever. It immediately became part of our Christmas tradition, along with "Die Hard" (Scrooged was added the year following). I'm glad you had fun with this one. There's a sequel as well, but that one is not a holiday movie, and is a lot more cartoonish. They sort of abandon the horror aspects entirely and embrace the silly. I like the first one better, but it might be worth checking out sometime.

She was also Gloria Chaney in Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) & Marvas Sr. in The Parent Trap (1998).

Addie, the 2nd Movie (Gremlins 2: The New Batch) is even better and more chaotic. Its insane. Youll love it. Not Christmas themed, so you can happily also watch it when ever you want to get back to the chaos. xD Fun fact, there was a heated debate online for a while that Grogu/Baby Yoda was copied from Gizmo and while that has proven to be false, it created other debates. To this day, Baby Yoda and Gizmo are debated for cutest sci fi creature.

Mrs. Deagle was played by Polly Holliday, who I knew of because she had previously had a role on the sitcom Alice, where she played the sassy waitress Flo (who had a catchphrase, "kiss my grits"). Flo even got her own spin-off show. The association in my head is so strong that even to this day I half-expect Mrs. Deagle to tell someone to kiss her grits.

So happy you liked this and that you loved Gizmo. Gremlins 2 is a really fun and funny blast, I think you'll really like it, too(it's more of a live-action Looney Tunes movie, really. Just picture the bar scene and the movie theater scene going for much, much longer.).

You never can tell when cute and cuddly turns into dark and deadly. The good thing about gremlins finishing 2nd in the poll is it gave Scrooged and The Muppet Christmas Carol another chance to be viewed. There is a second Gremlins movie, that box is better left unchecked. It never caught my interest. You were so excited when we got the recall of Gizmo wanting to drive a race car. โ€œThis your moment. Gizmo!โ€ Have a great weekend and take care of yourself, Addie!

Take 2: My dad took me (and one of my cousins) to see this in theaters when I was 6. It was a fond childhood memory. I'm pretty sure nearly every boy growing up in the '80s had a crush on Phoebe Cates. If you were in elementary school like me, if was from this movie; if you were in middle school/junior high/high school, it was likely more from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" (for very obvious reasons... ๐Ÿ˜). The 2 titles on the movie theater marquee at the beginning - "A Boy's Life" and "Watch the Skies" - were the working titles of exec producer Steven Spielberg's films "E.T." and "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," respectively. Spielberg initially wanted Kate's morbid Christmas story about her father cut from the movie, but director Joe Dante fought for it and ended up winning. Even so, when aired on TV, the scene was usually replaced with an alternate one where Billy and Kate encounter Gerald, having locked himself in the vault area of the bank in order to evade the gremlins. I guarantee you'll have a blast with "Gremlins 2." (Not a holiday movie like this one, so you can check it out after New Year's.) It's a lot more comedic and not nearly as dark as this one. Honestly, it's pretty much a meta-like parody of this first movie. Plus, a particular wizard makes an appearance... ๐Ÿ˜

Yes it's PG-rated but that microwave scene along the beating heart from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) prompted the creation of the MPA PG-13 rating that their respective sequels Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989) & Gremlins 2: The New Batch received. In case you're wondering why Kingston Falls looks so much like Hill Valley in Back to the Future (1985), then it was shot in the Courthouse Square at Universal Studios, the same location used for BTTF. Frances Lee McCain has played the mom in this movie, Footloose (1984), Back to the Future (1985) & Scream (1996).

The actress who plays Ms. Deagle is Polly Holiday, who also played Marva Kulp Sr. in The Parent Trap (1998). Anytime I see Polly Holiday in a movie, I'm always saying "Deagle Deagle Deagle Deagle." Speaking of Phoebe Cates, who plays Kate, I also suggest Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), also with Judge Reinhold, who plays Gerald Hopkins in this movie, Billy in Beverly Hills Cop, and Neil in the Santa Clause movies. #FastTimesAtRidgemontHighForAddieCounts And yes, Steven Spielberg was involved with this movie as an executive producer. He also has a cameo as an inventor of a motorized wheelchair with a cast on his leg. The movie was directed by Joe Dante. I also suggest his movies The Howling (1981), Explorers (1985), Innerspace (1987), The 'Burbs (1989), Matinee (1993), Small Soldiers (1998) & Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003). #MoreJoeDanteForAddieCounts Behind the scenes https://youtu.be/-Y7GHa9ix9Y?feature=shared

Happy Friday Evening, Addie! ๐Ÿ˜Š Glad that you were able to get rid of those pesky Gremlins in your computer, and was able to re-upload the video. The Mogwai's are super cute. It's when you accidentally feed them after midnight, and they turn into Gremlins is when you need to watch out. But I think that Ollie would protect you. The scenes when the Gremlins take over the bar, and when they're all watching "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" have always been my favorite scenes. I'm getting ready to watch this reaction while having pizza for dinner. Have a great rest of the evening & weekend! ๐Ÿ˜Š
