2023-12-16 22:10:24 +0000 UTCI like Scrooged but I wish Muppets had won. Such a great adaptation of A Christmas Carol.

2023-12-13 11:45:11 +0000 UTCI feel as though "Love Actually" has become, along with "The Notebook," sort of the "Citizen Kane" for utterly hopeless romantics. I do agree with Bill, though, that the lack of curiosity regarding any art/entertainment prior to one's birth has become an increasingly alarming problem in our society. 😔

2023-12-13 11:28:10 +0000 UTCFor me, Albert Finney gives the definitive Scrooge performance in the 1970 musical adaptation -- particularly impressive given that he was still fairly young and was acting through age makeup for much of the movie.

2023-12-13 11:18:17 +0000 UTCThe question is, will she also watch "The Muppet Christmas Carol," given that both it and "Scrooged" are adaptations of the Dickens novella? And, like "Oppenheimer," it's currently substantially behind the frontrunner. (I'm predicting we get "Gremlins" today; there's a fairly small window for holiday movies on YT, so if she wants to get in 4-6 of them like last year...)

2023-12-13 08:34:26 +0000 UTCHere’s a (terrible) idea: rewatch “It’s a Wonderful Life” but this time in color lol

2023-12-13 06:22:57 +0000 UTCAll of these seem like fun, but I will be glad if we get Scrooged. And the great thing about Christmas favorites is that this poll will almost certainly be back next year, so almost everyone gets to see their favorites eventually.

2023-12-12 22:29:19 +0000 UTCObviously, my vote goes to Jingle All the Way. I like your wavy hair. And I'm sorry you have an elephant in your room. That must be rough.
Zachary Huneycutt
2023-12-12 21:23:24 +0000 UTCAnd I would love to see Addie watch The Holiday (2006) soon because of her recent history of watching a lot of Jack Black movies.
Alex Tan
2023-12-12 21:14:06 +0000 UTCI don't hate the muppet version but I do feel it is mediocre. I'm an Alastair Sim kinda guy.
Luis Fernandez
2023-12-12 21:09:39 +0000 UTCI voted for four: Miracle on 34th Street (1947) Scrooged (1988) Bad Sants (2003) Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005).

2023-12-12 20:31:16 +0000 UTCSome people have an aversion to anything made before they were born.
Bill W
2023-12-12 20:12:20 +0000 UTCfilled with silly muppet songs, left many of the story out, no sister, no fiancé of the nephew, no firing of Bob Cratchit, and a lot more.

2023-12-12 20:11:26 +0000 UTCI watched Muppet Christmas Carol on Saturday and I'm still humming the songs. That's because they were written by Paul Williams, one of the greats and a staple of 1970s panel and game shows. Talk about a classic! Oh, and Michael Caine never looks like he's playing against puppets. OK, a little at the end with the happy songs. 😀

2023-12-12 20:02:30 +0000 UTCOk. Then my votes go for ALL of them. I'm looking forward to watching whatever wins, which I predict is Scrooged (1988).

2023-12-12 20:02:00 +0000 UTC"It's really old!" "It's in black and white!" say the younger members here, no doubt. 🙄

2023-12-12 19:55:09 +0000 UTCI agree that _Love Actually_ is a delightful Christmas rom-com, but how can anyone not vote for one of the *original* iconic Christmas movies: _Miracle on 34th Street_, which came out in 1947 just one year after _It's a Wonderful Life_? Sigh. 😐
Phil Stubblefield
2023-12-12 19:55:04 +0000 UTCYou know that's all of them except "Miracle on 34th Street," right? 🤨
Byrd N. Hand
2023-12-12 19:52:55 +0000 UTCThe Muppets have just never felt the same to me post-Jim Henson. Something has nearly always felt a bit 'off' in their projects minus his guiding hand... and "Christmas Carol" was the first without him. Of course, that movie also came out when I was in junior high and 'too good' for kiddie movies at that time...
Byrd N. Hand
2023-12-12 19:50:05 +0000 UTCFunny that you should say that! You and I appear to be roughly the same age, and I have nothing but fond memories of watching _The Muppet Show_ in the late 1970s! OTOH, I never did see _The Muppet Christmas Carol_, so perhaps I would agree with you!

2023-12-12 19:49:36 +0000 UTCI have a lot of questions, number 1: How dare you?

2023-12-12 19:47:32 +0000 UTCAnd I do hope that you watch Oppenheimer (2023) tomorrow.

2023-12-12 19:04:10 +0000 UTCmuppet christmas is horrible, but I wasnt born in the 90s, so I was from the era of the classics, 1938 a christmas carol with Reginald Owen is my favorite

2023-12-12 18:13:39 +0000 UTCIf you don't watch it for the channel, I hope you watch Kiss Kiss Bang Bang on your own. It's so crazy fun and funny and unpredictable. Just a wonder of a movie.

2023-12-12 17:55:40 +0000 UTCMuppet Christmas Carol all the way! But be sure to watch the "full length version" under Extras on Disney+.

2023-12-12 17:45:18 +0000 UTCI second that Ben.

2023-12-12 17:44:07 +0000 UTCOMG Love Actually in the list. Come on people how many of you do i have to take out for dinner. ;-)

2023-12-12 17:43:12 +0000 UTCBad Santa is a gold mine for reactions too.

2023-12-12 17:38:09 +0000 UTCI hold Jingle All The Way a special place in my heart. I personally like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and think will offer a better reaction for certain moments I'm surprised you haven't seen Love Actually or The Holiday both great romcoms. The Holiday showed me that Jack Black has a surprisingly great range as an actor.
Zachary
2023-12-12 17:32:23 +0000 UTCSpeaking of adaptions, I wish more people could see the 1999 version with Patrick Stewart. My personal favorite and the best Ebenezer we've had on the screen, though I wouldn't deny there is some bias there.

2023-12-12 17:19:35 +0000 UTCScrooged should easily win and I have no problem with that. A Muppet Christmas Carol is one of the best adaptations of A Christmas Carol story. There is also an extended version of the movie that includes a well loved song by fans of the movie. When it was removed a lot of people were disappointed. This fan is happy it’s included again.

2023-12-12 17:11:17 +0000 UTCI'm gonna have to go with "Love Actually". I just can't help myself when it comes to that movie. It hits all the right feels for me.

2023-12-12 17:10:17 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes go for Scrooged (1988), The Muppet Christmas Carol (1992), Jingle All The Way (1996), Love Actually (2003), Bad Santa (2003), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) and The Holiday (2006). Fingers crossed that you watch Oppenheimer (2023) tomorrow. #OppenheimerForAddieCounts

2023-12-12 17:07:26 +0000 UTCMiracle on 34th Street should be running away with this right out of the blocks. Nothing else here even comes close.

2023-12-12 17:05:22 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 I love all of these movies. However, "Scrooged" easily got my vote. "Muppet Christmas Carol" is my second choice. Have a great day today! 😊

2023-12-12 17:04:58 +0000 UTCI get the point of this channel, but how can you have not seen Miracle on 34th Street? 😂

2023-12-12 17:03:04 +0000 UTCOh no, the holiday and love actually in the same poll, theyre both right up your street, so i hope they appear again if not chosen
