Help me choose a movie to watch next!

Help me decide what to watch next!

After recommending Oppenhimer I realized Addie still hasnt even reacted to Barbie yet. So we cant get the true "Barbenheimer" experience. What is going on with the Addie chan, lets get Barbie going too! xD

LightsCameraJake

Point Break yees!

Milsr09

Did I imply I was trying to impress anyone? I'm sure there are movies most people fawn over that you don't think are nearly as brilliant as they do as well. 🙄

Byrd N. Hand

Lmao congrats on having an opinion on the Matrix that you share with maybe 2 other people on the planet, you're do different we're all SO impressed

John A

Well, that's where the whole 'different strokes for different folks' aspect comes in, isn't it? Again, I'll die on the hill that "Godfather III," "Terminator 3," and "Prometheus" are still better than some of the movies she's watched for the channel (the latter mostly being undercut by its shitty, more studio-meddled-with follow-up). I'm sure Addie will feel compelled to watch all the "Rocky" movies because they're just superficial enough for most everypeople to enjoy. But if she does end up reacting to the series, I'll still go along with it, even if, as with the MCU and X-Men series, I'll be longing for her to be finished with it every second.

Byrd N. Hand

Re: Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, the third in the series, Bill and Ted Face the Music (2020) is the best. Watch them all.

Chris Brown

I'm all for Addie starting Rocky and stopping if she doesn't find it interesting. I'm happy with her leaving the Terminator and Alien franchises, and I'd support her quitting the Godfather after the second one.

Luis Fernandez

The Point Break remake is incredibly infuriating. I honestly don't know why they didn't just make their own movie. They shoehorned in parts of the original for no other reason than to say hey we did the thing (even if it makes no sense and doesn't correlate to this movie whatsoever). Just a cobbled together mash up of nonsensical plots that have no business being affiliated with the OG. /end rant.

Tanner

Add Seven Samurai to your next action movie poll list.

Zachary Huneycutt

Well, when all the titles are mainstream, it's a matter of going with the best one... which is easily "Speed," IMO.

Byrd N. Hand

Along with the "Mission: Impossible" series, the "Rocky"/"Creed" series are the only remaining franchises of over 5 movies Addie hasn't started yet... and, frankly, neither one of them interest me. And I'm still surprised that the "Rocky" sequels were that well-regarded until various other channels started to react to all of them. 🤷‍♂️

Byrd N. Hand

Even on a poll with all mainstream movies, we still manage to end up with the MOST mainstreamiest on top. Sigh. ©"mainstreamiest"

Bill W

Well if you put it that way, you have a case. I drop the charges.

Mr. Writhms

(Rocky and then Rocky II, which is where the "Speed..." comes from)

Luis Fernandez

Speed! Speed! SPEED!!! That's my vote in this poll, and also a vote to watch Rocky at some point.

Luis Fernandez

Totally agree, except my love for Lorre and Stewart would make me prefer a TMWKTM double-feature.

Luis Fernandez

Mr. Writhms I'm anticipating The Equalizer 4 vs John Wick 5 where, by the rules established in each franchise, the lead characters succeed in killing each other. Now we just need a way to permanently end the Fast & Furious series. I can't believe there was enough of an audience to warrant making 10 of those. God help us .

Bill W

While I vocally support the idea of Addie watching all the Denzel Washington action movies that were directed by Tony Scott and Antoine Fuqua, I also would love to see her watch the historical drama, Cry Freedom (1987).

Alex Tan

Unfortunately, no one reacts to the Denzel dramas, where he displays deeper performances, like: "Malcolm X" or "The Hurricane" for example. There’s a lot of "Man on Fire" and "The Equalizer" reactions, which are very good movies (and money-makers for Denzel) but barely scratch the surface or “challenges”, as you put it. For me, It’s just great to see him in anything.

Mr. Writhms

Welp, seeing as the Emerald Angel just explored some early Keanu Reeves with Bill & Ted, I think it’s only appropriate that she continue delving into his earlier oeuvre with Point Break and/or Speed, both films being great 90s action classics.

Julian San

Byrd Denzel and Viola were awesome in Fences.

Bill W

#OppenheimerForAddieCounts

Alex Tan

#MorePureActionMoviesForAddieCounts BTW, she has seen all four John Wick movies.

Alex Tan

Absolutely

David Martin

This is tough!!!

David Martin

*Always* go with the original first... unless it's "The Man Who Knew Too Much" or "Ocean's Eleven."

Byrd N. Hand

As great of an actor as I think Denzel is, I feel as though he does a lot of generic action thrillers -- nothing that really challenges him. Frankly, "Fences" is the only film he's done in the last 10 years that even remotely piqued my interest (along with the fact that I read the play in high school).

Byrd N. Hand

True. He's had a few that are kind of forgettable... but Glory, Malcolm X, Philadelphia, Crimson Tide, Courage Under Fire, The Preacher's Wife, Fallen, He Got Game, The Seige, The Bone Collector, The Hurricane, Remember The Titans, Training Day, John Q, Antwone Fisher, Man On Fire, Manchurian Candidate, Inside Man, Deja Vu, American Gangster, Book of Eli, Safe House, Flight... Incredible resume. And Riccochet, as cheesy as it is, still holds a place in my heart.

Bill W

The Long Kiss Goodnight Ronin The Getaway (1994) The Raid Collateral Damage Executive Decision Tears of the Sun The Killer (1989) Priest John Wick Eagle Eye Enemy of the State Ip Man Plane The Road Warrior The Hunted Escape from New York The Rock Green Zone Ironclad The Kingdom Mile 22 16 Blocks Den of Thieves

Alex Vazquez

Those are both technically *sci-fi* action movies... and "The Matrix" is overrated, IMO (though the second and third movies are underrated).

Byrd N. Hand

Very proud of you for sensibly not using the word "underrated".

Bill W

Denzel Washington movies should not be part of a poll. They are mandatory viewing. I believe this is a law in Canada. I could be wrong.

Mr. Writhms

I must respectfully argue and put forward "Terminator 2" (1991) and "The Matrix" (1999).

Mr. Writhms

Point Break is a classic and peak Swayze!

Joe Mallard

Oh, wow! Even though I'm super-excited for you to see Point Break(it's the perfect follow-up to Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure) I've got to vote for CRIMSON TIDE! It's a highly rated, sadly underseen, exciting submarine drama starring Denzel, Gene Hackman, and Viggo "Aragorn" Mortensen!

sarCC

A lot of these are totally my jam!

Onno Smits

Happy Tuesday, Addie! 😊 All great choices for this poll. Looks like an 'Action Movie' theme(aside from "Now You See Me". It's not really an Action movie)for this one. As much as I love "Now You See Me" and "Speed", "Air Force One" got my vote for this one. Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

Oppenheimer (2023)

LightsCameraJake

Speed!

Marcio T

Kinda like how the sequel to the "Hills Have Eyes" remake should've been called "The Hills Still Have Eyes." 😏

Byrd N. Hand

Crimson Tide and Now You See Me don't really belong in this poll. (Probably why they're losing. Sigh) Slightly different type of movies that I'd rank above the rest of the standard action type.

Bill W

Point Break is so much better than Speed it's not even close

John A

Several good choices in there, but I’m hoping for National Treasure, it’s just a really fun time.

Patrick Egan

Speed 100% Excellent movie! I wouldn't be surprised if Con Air takes the lead. That was a good one as well. Crimson Tide too... and Air Force One... David's right. This is pretty good list.

L.Knight

I didn't vote for it, but thank you for including the 1991 Point Break and not the 2015 Point Break.

Luis Fernandez

"Speed" is arguably the best action movie of the '90s, so no contest here.

Byrd N. Hand

After yesterday’s The Worlds End you should watch Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World. It’s by the same Director of that trilogy, Edgar Wright. Super fun movie. Just don’t look up the cast list so you can be surprised when they show up.

Jesse Shadows

National Treasure is great but SPEED is the definitive non-Matrix 90s Keanu film. Addie will love the Sandra Keanu chemistry. Now You See Me should be forgotten by everyone. For a few reasons but mostly because the sequel wasn't called Now You Don't.

Fawks

Happy Tuesday, Addie. All are great choices but my votes go for Speed (1994) & Air Force One (1997), as well as Crimson Tide (1995), Con Air (1997), and National Treasure (2004), all three produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Alex Tan

National Treasure is a good one

DazzMetalStorm

It's rare that I can say I would vote for every single movie in one of these polls.

Bryan Fritchie

All very good but Air Force One is under rated

Randolph Tirazona

Should have a look at 'were the millers' great comedy movie

Spikes

Got a bunch of good films on this poll, Addie! Speed, Crimson Tide and National Treasure would be MY top three, but I will happily watch whatever wins.
