STARSHIP TROOPERS - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Starship Troopers! This movie isn't one of my fav sci fi movies overall, but I still had a lot of fun watching it! Enjoy!

STARSHIP TROOPERS - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

Wow, this post is a year old and not a single comment mentioning "satire". That's pretty much unheard of for any reactor that is doing Verhoeven's "Satire Trilogy".

Thomas Yanez

😺 Addie!!! 😺 Love that commercial/advertisement/type thing 😺

Randolph Tirazona

There are some boxes better left unchecked but oh well. Looking forward to the AMA video!

Billy Dancel

Because it’s terrible.

RP

Thank you for your great reaction to one of my favorite movies. I always appreciate your reactions and how open minded you are to even movies that are not your forte. Too many reactors bring real world bias to movies like this, instead of just enjoying the story unfolding in front of them. Thank you again.

I have always loved this movie, and how it leaned into being cheesy, but serious. I am still surprised that this lost out to Titanic for the best special effects, because these were top notch then, and still amazing now.

Vwlss Nvwls

I'm amazed that the special effects still hold up. I guess bug creatures age quite well in movies.

I saw the Special Edition re-release of “Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back” in theaters in 1997. They showed the trailer for “Starship Troopers”. No one knew what it was, but the whole audience went crazy wanting to see it. The special effects still look good today-- and really advanced CGI creature effects for 1997.

Speaking of Denise Richards, I also suggest The World is Not Enough (1999, but watch Goldeneye (1995) & Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) first) & Empire (2002). #MoreDeniseRichardsForAddieCounts Speaking of Dina Meyer, I also suggest DragonHeart (1996). #DragonHeartForAddieCounts

Half-past cheesy, quarter till parody. 😁

Addie, if you watch Basic Instinct (1992), I STRONGLY recommend the Unrated Director's Cut, which was never screened in the US.

Alex Tan

I recommend RoboCop too. Its the best Paul Verhoeven movie. Other good ones are Basic Instinct (1992) and Hollow Man (2000).

The "are you psychic?" clip has Timothy Omundson looking rather mysterious. He's played in some good stuff, but in the sci-fi realm my favorite was a super-short video called Voltron: The End, where he plays one of the Voltron pilots. Worth checking out if you are a Voltron fan.

Luis Fernandez

This movie is super cheesy, but that's what makes it such a fun watch.

Luis Fernandez

The Starship Troopers uniforms should look familiar to you…they were reused as Alliance uniforms in Firefly.

Eric H

I hope someone warned The Crimson Countess to have a barf bag at the ready.

Julian San

NPH & Denise Richards also appear in Undercover Brother (2002), which I also suggest to Addie. #UndercoverBrotherForAddieCounts

Addie, I remember when some band mates and I saw this in a theater shortly after it was released. The over-the-top gore and violence was quite a surprise! And we thirty-something guys felt like a bunch of guilty teenage boys after that shower scene! 😳 😂

Phil Stubblefield

Happy Friday, Addie! 😊 Not going to lie, this is one of my top 10 favorite sci-fi movies. It's a guilty pleasure movie. LOL! I really like Michael Ironside's character in this movie. And of course, I love that Neil Patrick Harris is in it. Definitely looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. 😊

Randee Carreno

Dina Meyer & Denise Richards have also appeared in Friends.

Since you find yourself more drawn to sci-fi, another genre that I would love to see you watch more of is straight pure action. My suggestions include Bullitt (1968), The French Connection (1971), Speed (1994), The Rock (1996), Con Air (1997), Ronin (1998), Enemy of the State (1998) & Gone in 60 Seconds (2000). Feel free to add other straight pure action thriller movies to the mix as well.

Alex Tan

Speaking of Paul Verhoeven, who directed this movie & Total Recall (1990), I also suggest Flesh & Blood (1985), RoboCop (1987), Basic Instinct (1992, UNRATED DIRECTOR'S CUT), and Hollow Man (2000, UNRATED DIRECTOR'S CUT). #MorePaulVerhoevenForAddieCounts

The studio that released this movie outside the US & Canada was Disney's Touchstone Pictures, a production label for them to make more adult oriented films. It was established in 1984 as Disney was trying to retain the teenage demographic that was uninterested in the traditional Disney fare.

Alex Tan

Happy Friday, Addie. Starship Troopers (1997) is another Paul Verhoeven movie that I enjoyed. Looking back on this movie, it does have Aliens vibes, but on a brutal and over-the-top level.
