THE THING - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to The Thing! This is a great movie, but I think this is the grossest movie I've ever seen haha. Enjoy!

And for those of you who are used to Firefly content on Monday... the full length reaction to Serenity will be up on Wednesday!

THE THING - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

If you read the book and the interviews about the movie, it does reveal the answer to the ending but it’s fun to leave it up to your imagination. XD

Myth Oceanas

Still one of the greatest horror films of all time

Addie not trusting the credits is just funny and cute at the same time :) and yay you survived. Congrats! :D

These practical effects still look great today. I love this movie, and probably watched it a few dozen times when I was in high school in the late 80s.

Another classic from the 80s completed, One of my first horror films.. You go girl. Looking forward to more soon. 😘

PHILLIP CORNISH

Everyone knows this reaction was anticipated JUST to see the Crimson Countess’ reaction to the opening husky scene.

Congratulations for surviving The Thing, Addie! It's a tough movie for those that don't usually like horror movies, especially if you're grossed out by body horror like this (though I personally still feel like The Fly is more gross, but just my opinion). It may help to watch the behind the scenes videos to demystify some of the practical effects, but if not, just know no dogs were harmed in the making of it, other than being sprayed by some gel commonly used in toothpaste. also, fun story, first time I watched this, I was living in a small dorm room, and was watching the movie in the dark at night. It was in the summer and so I had my window open to let the heat out, and my TV was set in front of the window. Halfway through the movie, about when MacReady is separated in the storm, something jumped at me from the window, scaring the hell out of me. It was the cutest stray black kitten... Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to keep it at the time, but i found a family for it soon after, and since then it will forever in my heart be known as The Thing (that made me scream like a little girl).

Okay, I've finished the watchalong. Addie took it better than I did a long while back when some friends rented the movie on VHS from their neighborhood video rental store (not a big chain) and we watched on their 19" color TV (CRT). We found "The Thing" to be so scary that we had to pause the movie at the blood test scene to turn on the lights in the room so that we could compose ourselves.

When he was breaking up the radio room, Blair wasn't either The Thing or going insane (the choices you gave). He knew from his magic computer that The Thing was a potential end-of-the-word situation, so he was destroying the vehicles and radio to prevent anybody from leaving in order to protect the rest of the world from The Thing spreading.

haha your dog is cracking me up.. dogs don't enjoy this movie very much I think..

Rogue_ML

I never thought I would be scared of a dog in a movie, but here we are!

DON'T PUT THIS THOUGHT IN MY HEAD nooooo

Clark DID try to turn the light on in the kennel before opening the door. They showed him reach over and flip the switch, but nothing happened.

Best. Dog actor. Ever!

I'm over halfway through the reaction now, and she's actually handling it better than I thought. We'll see how she takes the defibrillator and blood test scenes...

Addie look at you, 2 Carpenter movies this month! way to go lol didn’t think you would check this one in particular. Congrats on getting through this spooky season.

Ernesto Lopez

Will this be the last we see of 'Karate Addie' for a while? Here's hoping you don't dream of Ollie's face opening up and grabbing you with tentacles tonight... 😏

Byrd N. Hand

I also suggest Backdraft (1991), Stargate (1994), Breakdown (1997), Miracle (2004), Sky High (2005), Dreamer (2005), and The Christmas Chronicles 1 & 2 for Christmas. #MoreKurtRussellForAddieCounts

Happy Monday, Addie! 😊 I totally agree, this is one of the grossest movies I've seen, up there with "The Fly". Kurt Russell is great in though. For another great Kurt Russell classic I highly recommend the 1987 movie "Overboard" also starring his real-life partner Goldie Hawn. Have a great day today! 😊

Randee Carreno

In retrospect, I feel a little bad I suggested this movie last year in a comment. Well done for watching it though.

I winced a little when I saw your earlier post that you were going to watch and react to "The Thing" (1982). I figured this might be so far outside of your comfort zone as to be on another planet. Yikes. For lighter fare with Kurt Russell, may I suggest "Overboard" (1987) and the wackier yet, "Used Cars" (1980) - a comedy by Bob Zemeckis before he went on to direct "Forrest Gump" and "Cast Away".

ButtercupsTrueLove

Now you need to watch Kurt Russell again in Escape from New York (1981), Escape from LA (1996), and Big Trouble in Little China (1986), all directed by John Carpenter. #MoreKurtRussellAndJohnCarpenterForAddieCounts

Let's give Addie a round of applause for surviving John Carpenter's The Thing (1982). πŸ‘πŸ‘ Happy Monday. I own the movie on Blu-ray and I plan on watching it at some point this week. Stay tuned to hear my thoughts in the comments of the YouTube edit. BTW, nice sweater.

Alex Tan

Part of me was dreading that you would have to watch this but, like a bandaid, get it over with and never have to deal with it again (besides editing) As for Serenity WEDNESDAY GET HERE NOW!!
