X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX - Full Length Reaction!

Comments

Timeline: X-Men First Class - 1962 X-Men: Days of Future Past - 1973 X-Men: Apocalypse - 1983 Dark Phoenix - 1992 <------- HERE Deadpool - 2016 Deadpool 2 - 2018 Deadpool 3 - 2023/2024 X-Men: Days of Future Past, Logan Wakes up in New Timeline - 2023 The New Mutants - Late 2020s (Originally was set in the 80s like the comics) Logan - 2029 Personally this movie should've had far more build-up. It's a Saga that was built up across countless comics and then finally showcased in the Dark Phoenix, issues #129–138 (January – October 1980) so a pretty big event in the comics. Even the amazing X-Men Animated Series featured the Dark Phoenix saga across like five episode story arc that was hinted towards and built up in other episodes. Side note the Animated Series has some amazing comic book stories that for many are better than the original, Days of Future Past and Dark Phoenix being two examples. So right from the start this film was pretty disappointing being a single film. Should've been built up across a trilogy at least but with Disney buying Fox the same year there was not much Fox could do. But yeah if you want a great depiction of the Dark Phoenix saga look no farther than the X-Men Animated Series from the 1990s.

OK, I had my first viewing of this just now, with you. Still love the cast, it was the writing I had trouble with. That said, does anyone share the feeling that the actress who played Jean's mom is a twin of our Addie, especially with her hair style and the angles with which she was filmed?

This past week I realized what truly attracts me to watching reactions. Along with reliving first time watching through your eyes (and others) I’m watching with an entirely different perspective. A few disliked movies were enjoyed more than expected and I’m happy to remove the label of a bad movie. I don’t know if it was mentioned by anyone but in the very first X-Men movie you can see the X glow a little longer like you saw here. This one was reddish but the first and a few following movies was done on purpose. I’m happy you caught that. Take care of yourself, Addie!! Hi to Ollie!!

This was a good show, I wish it had more seasons.

There is a Mutant tv series called The Gifted. It has two seasons. First season has 13 episode. Its a really good show, if you ever have the time I recommend giving it a watch.

Not of fan of this movie or of the next one. For more X-Men related content, I'd recommend you check out the show Legion. That show had 3 seasons and originally aired on FX (now on Hulu), with a storyline that follows a completely different set of mutants (maybe in a different timeline?). I think you'd love the show, so if you do not watch it for the channel I'd recommend you watch it for yourself.

Happy Wednesday ✖ Thank you for reacting to all of The X-Men movies. Its been a rollercoaster. How would you rank all the films? Dark Phoenix is indeed the final film.

I never knew this movie existed

It’s a shame, really. There was so much potential in the early years.

I always forget this dumpster fire exists. I could do a doctoral thesis on the insanity of the opening 10 min alone. It's worth noting that this came out a time when fans were practically begging Fox to abandon the Xmen. Even the actors in this seemed annoyed to be there (looking at you JENNIFER). The chain of events of the failed X-Men franchise started with a ban on comics books, and ended with the success of Hunger Games. It never stood a chance. Edit: I should say, every bad movie has something good, and with these films I say they consistently got really close to Scott. James Marsden and Tye Sheridan were both excellent castings, they just never got center stage.

Happy Wednesday, Addie! 😊 I've been looking forward to this "X-Men" movie. I've only seen a very few bits and pieces of it. And definitely looking forward watching this all the way through. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today. 😊

Happy Wednesday, Addie. Only one movie left until you're FINALLY caught up on the X-Men saga. However, I must warn you that The New Mutants (2020) will have more elements of a HORROR movie that may scare you. Please be brave, Addie. You go girl.
