READY PLAYER ONE - Full Length Reaction!

I like your slip of the tongue when you called the race a “maze”. You knew right then that it wasn’t a race, it was a puzzle!

Ian T

the books key puzzles are way more complicated, the pop culture references explained and the ending so much more satisfying

Apparently the movie adaptation of "Ready Player Two" is in the early stages of development... though it's still unknown if Steven Spielberg will also direct that one. But given that he's apparently said that this first one was the third-hardest movie he's ever made (behind "Jaws" and "Saving Private Ryan"), *and* that he'll be 77 at the end of the year, I'm highly skeptical.

Addie, please please read the book. It's the most epic book I've ever read. I finished it in 2 days, and I am not a fast reader, and it only took me that long because I had to work. The sequel was a little disappointing, but still worth a read.

The Real NC Picker

The book is AMAZING! I don't know which version you read, but it can't be the same one I read. It's the fastest I've ever read a book. The only reason I had to put it down was because of work.

The Real NC Picker

You're literally the only person I've ever heard say that. The book was amazing! I read it in 2 days, and I don't read that fast. I've introduced multiple people to the book, and they all agree it's amazing. The movie is disappointing. Not bad, but not as epic as the book is.

The Real NC Picker

This movie was good, but it needed more RUSH references.

I think that's the reason why this movie won her Steven Spielberg poll, maybe just to see her squirm over that scene with The Shining (1980).

Alex Tan

Man, this video was so worth it just to see her reaction to The Shining segment and it wasn’t disappointing 🤣

Julian San

This is my fav movie of all times!! I read the book and it was great! the 2nd book ive just started reading.

Jayson Phillips

Please give us your thoughts on the book also when you finish it.

Dave965

The movie, while the lesser product imo, makes it more accessible to people who may not get all the references. The book is a deeper dive into more, and somewhat obscure (for the non-gamer) references, but has a larger story. I am glad they trimmed it down for the movie, but I did enjoy both.

Dave965

Yep, it's been running new checks since this morning (sometimes this part takes forever). Hopefully it is resolved soon!

Movies.. Books.. Shows.. Video games.. etc Countless popular references in Halliday's lifetime and my own. 1:04:23 ... Addie returns to The Shining "Who would have thought that that quarter would have been so important?" My best friend and I were at the arcade in the bowling alley every single chance we had. A single extra quarter means a lot!!!! 1:35:53 ... one of my favorite songs of this incredible soundtrack!! I'm so very happy you enjoyed the fun!! I want to read this as well!! Take care of yourself, Addie!! Say hi to Ollie!!

So many details have only a few seconds of screen time. Spielberg doesn't believe in unnecessary exposition in his films - leave the audience wanting more. The glimpses in Aech's workshop of the Battlestar Galactica, the Firefly ship from the "Firefly" series and the movie "Serenity", the robot from "Lost In Space" in Halliday's hand near the end of the film, etc.

ButtercupsTrueLove

Nice, I loved the book too

zynjams

The book is not really that good.

SquaredSpekz

Well, you wasted no time on this. Can't wait to see it later. P.S. You've probably noticed by now, but your "Total Recall" reaction got blocked on YT. 😒 I hope this doesn't cause too much of a setback for you...

Byrd N. Hand

It's rare for a movie to be ""better"" than a book due to the differences in medium but in this case, the movie is far superior to the book in every way. I haven't hated a read (listen, audiobook version) like that in many years.

Ready Player One is a really fun film that's more relatable for 1990s/2000s babies into gaming and films. The book is still filled with pop culture references as it released in 2011 but I personally do prefer the book. The film had everything in it that I was watching or playing at the time so it was a fun experience to see them all together. Also the fact we got to see the Adam West Batmobile was just perfect it still looks amazing to this day and even the tires make the 1960s Batman theme when the car spins out.

Isaac

The book is much better than the movie - you are in for a treat!

The Dingo

I love this movie

Happy Monday, Addie. I'm so glad that you enjoyed Ready Player One (2018), even though you had to relive your trauma of watching The Shining (1980). I think that's the reason why it won your Steven Spielberg poll. My dad & I saw the movie in theaters on Easter Sunday 2018 and we both enjoyed it. That scene with Chucky was the funniest IMO. I also love how Parzival drives a DeLorean from Back to the Future (1985).

Alex Tan

Happy Monday, Addie! 😊 I'm actually glad that this movie won the poll, because it's been awhile since I've seen it. I had no idea that this was based on a book. I'll definitely have to get it. Looking forward to watching this reaction later this evening. Have a great day today! 😊
