THOR: LOVE AND THUNDER - Full Length Reaction!

Here's the full length reaction to Thor: Love and Thunder! I heard some negative things about this movie going into it, but I actually had a lot of fun with this one! I think Thor: Ragnarok is still my favorite of all the Thor movies so far, but I can't wait to see Chris Hemsworth return as Thor in the future! Enjoy!

As long as you're vaguely aware of who Daredevil is I think it works just as well the other way around. My mum wasn't interested at all until after we watched She-Hulk, and now we're watching the entire 'Defender Saga' together. Not that I'd be complaining if she chooses to watch Daredevil first - I'd love that - but I think she'll be alright as long as she watches it at some point before Reborn comes out.

ThankΒ΄s a lot for the reaction! Just as a suggestion, maybe some of Daredevil before She-Hulk? ;D

Alex Santos

This was intentionally a comic book movie. That's why it is different than the other MCU films. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Ignore the haters.

Gideon James

That little girl is Chris Hemsworth's actual daughter.

I'm glad you enjoyed this movie, Addie. For me this one was a big miss. It wasn't that my expectations weren't met, I just didn't like the movie very much. It tried to be a comedy but it only made me chuckle a couple of times. Gorr's plan was serviceable but I didn't find it interesting. I did enjoy Jane's storyline, I thought that was well done. In the future I'll limit myself to a 15-minute "Jane Cut". I'll again suggest you check out Daredevil before She-Hulk.

So even though this movie had a little too many comedic moments, what I loved about this movie were key surprising emotional moments. One of the other reasons people dislike this movie is because Gorr The God Butcher in the comics was.... really popular. He's one of Thors greatest villains, nigh unstoppable and here..... he kidnapped kids and was seen killing one God. In the comics, he's killed literally thousands of Gods. So people were basically let down and thought we needed to see more of Gorr, which I don't disagree with. The scenes we did get with Gorr, I really liked. Christian Bale acted really well as this vile guy who acted from a place of true pain. One thing I think isn't talked about enough is Jane and Thors storyline. Her cancer plot is really well done, both in comic accuracy and really hitting emotional beats. I get why you didn't want to believe it, but I'm surprised you thought Jane would've made it. It really seemed like she was gonna die since she had cancer, as Thor is also never allowed to just be happy. He's always losing someone πŸ˜” Jane in the comics at one point was also diagnosed with cancer, and Mjolnir also called to her. She was worthy, and it "kind of" cured her. She grew strong, but the more she used her powers, the more her human self grew weaker and weaker, to the point of death. She was known as Mighty Thor. I also loved Thors growth here. Again, jokes aside, I loved what they did here. They finally brought to attention how much Thor loses, and how that would affect someone. Feeling shitty, while again used comedically, was really true. Feeling that pain means it was a real connection with real love. That's certainly better than closing yourself off and Feeling nothing. So beneath all the jokes, which I think is this movies greatest weakness, there were nuggets of really well written character development, emotional moments that hit home, and a really good villain. (Albeit not getting too much of him) I'm happy you enjoyed this movie, Addie! Next thing up in the MCU is She-Hulk. Now that's also pretty divisive as a show, but I think it's also got pretty good nuggets of moments there as well. Also, just know that there's end credit scenes in almost every episode right off the bat, so just make sure to check everytime. See you then!

Now you can watch the new Ant-man movie!

Jayson Phillips

Sad to say, if what we're told is true, this might be Hemsworth's last outing as Thor. It sounds like he's pulling back from acting due to health concerns.

Jim Schmitz

The reason Ragnarok worked is that Waititi was subverting expectations; taking a self-serious franchise and making it weird and fun. But you can't subvert a subversion. Love & Thunder is so subversive it comes across insincere. Waititi doesnt believe in the stakes of his own story. Also he only kills the characters he didnt create! (The warriors 3, Odin, Jane!) If he had let Kong die it would have created new tension, he would have subverted his silly story by suddenly going serious. But Waititi loves himself too much to do that... On the one hand I think it helped that Addie went in with low expectations but maybe she knows too much? why are people warning you!?

George Baxter

They tried to make it funnier but a lot of people were confused, the whole story was Korg telling it that's why it seemed so silly because Kork gets things mixed up and sees things different.

Jayson Phillips

Please never change Addie! I feel like a lot of people (I’m definitely guilty of this too) have grown to have such high expectations of the MCU. And while I think it is important to have critiques, I also think it’s important to enjoy the content for what it is, even if it’s not the greatest. While the Post-Endgame era has had its ups and downs, I still think that given how much pressure the former Disney CEO was putting on Kevin Feige to pump out content once Disney+ became a thing, the fact we still got projects like WandaVision, Loki, Shang Chi, No Way Home, etc. is a blessing. Just keep being you Addie and don’t let anyone else’s opinions shape yours!

Aaron B

The first act was weak but the 2nd and 3rd act really pulled it back, is it still one of my favorites no not really.

Andrew Polinski

Hear, hear. Addie should form her own opinion despite what others think. She still enjoyed The Greatest Showman (2017), despite its mixed reception.

Alex Tan

Really wish people would stop prefilling Addie's head with negative opinions. Obviously yes this is one of the worst ones but what's great about Addie is that watching along with her always gives a fresh perspective and positivity. Don't harsh her mellow.

Speaking of Russell Crowe, I also suggest A Beautiful Mind (2001) and Cinderella Man (2005), both directed by Ron Howard. And speaking of Nigel Phelps, production designer of this movie, I also suggest Pearl Harbor (2001) with Ben Affleck, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Michael Bay. Another Chris Hensworth movie that I would suggest to you is 12 Strong (2018), also produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Alex Tan

This was hit and miss for me. Really solid loud belly laughs and just jokes thudding on the floor.

Nathan Swapp

For me Taika Waititi made the best and worst Thor movies.

Steve SG-1

Happy Friday, Addie. I'm so glad that you had fun watching Thor: Love and Thunder (2022), in spite of its chilly reception. Originally, I thought the moment Zeus flicked too hard was gonna give me a huge laugh attack, but it was those scenes with the goats. My girlfriend and I enjoyed seeing this movie in theaters, last summer, despite not being in IMAX.

Lets gooooooooooooooooo
