I've never seen Schindler's List and I doubt I ever will. It's not to say it's not a good movie, but I don't want to put myself through that.

2023-05-17 15:07:28 +0000 UTC"The Big Red 1" is definitely also my favorite WWII film; even Steven Spielberg clearly aped certain shots from it for "Saving Private Ryan." It pains me that so few people have still heard of it compared to lesser but more acclaimed films like the aforementioned SPR.

2023-05-17 13:01:17 +0000 UTCThe best American war movie is "The Big Red One" (1980). The best WW2 movie overall is "Come And See" (1985). The best Holocaust movie is "Sophie's Choice" (1982). Just my opinion though, of course.

2023-05-17 11:29:06 +0000 UTCActually, I'd say watch an Andrei Tarkovsky or Michelangelo Antonioni film to get a real sense of 'slow.' I imagine the average ADD-stricken jagoff these days would hang themselves before getting through one of them. When the hell did filmmaking apparently become about making the absolute shortest movie possible??

2023-05-17 10:42:03 +0000 UTCSchindler’s list is an amazing film that deserved all the awards It receive. As a human being this is a film that must be watched at least once in your life it’s not an easy watch i’ve cried every time I watched it. Just prepare to have a box of tissues ready and remember to breathe because there will be definitely some ugly crying involved.

2023-05-17 02:23:53 +0000 UTCDunkirk (2017) would make a great reaction for Addie. It sucks that it's dead last in this poll. Hopefully it wins in a Christopher Nolan themed poll. BTW, kudos to Cassie from Popcorn in Bed for watching that movie.

2023-05-17 00:53:11 +0000 UTCNow I know what you meant by "heavier" movies.

2023-05-16 23:42:04 +0000 UTCHacksaw Ridge became an instant favorite for me!

2023-05-16 23:41:15 +0000 UTCIf movies with slow pacing are not ideal for reactions, then at least half of the entire film repertoire would be out of the question. Besides, Dunkirk is slow? If the film is anything, it's anything but that. Go watch the second half of Beau is Afraid to get a sense of real 'slow'.

2023-05-16 23:30:52 +0000 UTCA hard choice between 'Hacksaw Ridge', 'Dunkirk', and '1917'. But... 'Hacksaw Ridge' is the best of the poll.

2023-05-16 23:14:14 +0000 UTCDunkirk was great, but it's a poor movie for a reaction. It's soooooo slow; the pacing is just wrong for this format.

2023-05-16 22:39:20 +0000 UTCHacksaw Ridge is the best choice!

2023-05-16 22:15:57 +0000 UTCTIL there are people that don't like Dunkirk.

2023-05-16 21:38:42 +0000 UTCI'm not trying to say anything beyond what the quote said. Let's not get excited over nothing. The movie is a savior fantasy based in a realistic historical setting and that's okay, just don't expect it to say anything profound about the Holocaust. (And what's the spoiler? I referenced literally nothing from the plot of any of these.)
Lance Li
2023-05-16 21:25:42 +0000 UTCFirst of all, spoilers. Second, what is that quote even supposed to mean? That the movies doesn't adequately communicate the horror and loss and death of the holocaust? Really?

2023-05-16 21:20:27 +0000 UTCSince Schindler's List (1993) is more likely to win this poll, I do hope that Addie also watches Happy Gilmore (1996), Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) or Thor: Love & Thunder (2022) afterwards, as a pallette clenser. When she watches Schindler's List, I can tell that it'll have the same emotional effect on her like The Green Mile (1999) did, but on a BIGGER level. In other words, she's really gonna cry watching that movie. BTW, this is only based off of my personal gut feelings regarding what's in store for her.

2023-05-16 21:03:06 +0000 UTCDon't get the hate towards Dunkirk. It's literally Nolan's greatest. It's basically a war horror movie like Come and See (the only way that war should be portrayed really), so it doesn't have to have relatable characters or dialogues. 1917 is incredibly overrated, and for Schindler's List, I can only think of what Kubrick had to say about it: "The Holocaust is about six million people who get killed. Schindler’s List was about six hundred people who don’t."
Lance Li
2023-05-16 20:57:27 +0000 UTCSo its between a very sad and emotionally morally evil movie, and a Childs movie about not taking the war seriously. EESH lol. Two very opposite ends of the spectrum here xD
