Added 2023-05-09 16:00:05 +0000 UTCHelp me choose what movie to watch next! I'm wanting to do a comedy now because our next poll will feature some MUCH heavier movies. :)

I'm hoping she saves "Hacksaw Ridge" for Memorial Day.

2023-05-15 16:50:12 +0000 UTCAnd if it's a war movie poll, I do hope we get Pearl Harbor (2001), Hacksaw Ridge (2016), Dunkirk (2017) & 1917 (2019).

2023-05-13 17:56:41 +0000 UTCOh i hope its american history x, that film never ceases to blow me away. So powerful

2023-05-11 11:59:29 +0000 UTCNow that movie is tied with Happy Gilmore (1996).
Alex Tan
2023-05-11 01:39:34 +0000 UTCI would love to see her watch the entire Godfather trilogy, with The Godfather (1972), The Godfather: Part II (1974) and a newly recut version of The Godfather Part III (1990) called The Godfather Coda: The Death of Michael Corleone (2020), soon.

2023-05-10 20:27:50 +0000 UTCI know Cinema Rules, Blueberry Void, and OctoKrool have reacted to it, at the very least.

2023-05-10 16:43:42 +0000 UTCThat's a strong list of four films. I can't say I've ever seen a reactor do Requiem.

2023-05-10 14:50:57 +0000 UTCI hope it's not just a bunch of war movies, since I feel heaviness and war movies pretty much go without saying; heavier subject matter in everyday life (as in the 4 movies I mentioned above) is far more devastating, IMO. Again, I'm hoping Addie starts stepping out of her comfort zone a bit more in coming months and takes on movies she never would've watched otherwise. She's previously mentioned interest in the "Godfather" trilogy, and I feel that would be a good starting point for her.

2023-05-10 12:59:36 +0000 UTCI'd vote for Se7en (1995) if it's ever on that poll. But I think it's gonna be some more depressing movies that'll make Addie cry.
Alex Tan
2023-05-10 11:44:14 +0000 UTCI'm intrigued as to what the 'heavier' movies in the next poll will be. "Seven," "American History X," "Requiem for a Dream," and "No Country for Old Men"? π
Byrd N. Hand
2023-05-10 06:06:41 +0000 UTCMore than just the scattered light chuckles we got from her in "WALL-E," "Airplane!," "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," and the 2 Monty Python movies? It's a shame those aren't movies that interest me, if that's the case. π€·ββ

2023-05-10 05:56:53 +0000 UTCI am actually just shocked Beverly HIlls Cop is beating any of the other three. Not that it's bad, quality wise it's as good as the others. But those other ones are like universally cited as favorite comedies among the internet generation(s).

2023-05-09 20:09:40 +0000 UTCShe's laughed alot during the marvel and rush hour films
DazzNovaNature
2023-05-09 18:50:58 +0000 UTCNot to mention "Commando," "The Running Man," and "Total Recall" -- along with T3 as well, those are the only other Arnie action movies that are genuinely worth seeing. As far as James Cameron goes, I'll add "The Abyss" as well.
Byrd N. Hand
2023-05-09 18:45:55 +0000 UTCWho knows, I think Addie will get a very good laugh from Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Happy Gilmore (1996) & Anchorman (2004). I (like most people I know) usually prefer Eddie Murphy, Adam Sandler & Will Ferrell in the comedy route. And Adam Sandler's most respective work is Uncut Gems (2019).
Alex Tan
2023-05-09 18:19:59 +0000 UTCAdam Sandler and Will Ferrell vehicles tend to be too broad/lowbrow/stupid (take your pick) for my tastes. Their best respective works are still "Punch-Drunk Love" and "Stranger Than Fiction," IMO. And I honestly feel Eddie Murphy is better when he's counterbalanced by another actor, Γ la Nick Nolte in "48 Hours," Dan Aykroyd in "Trading Places," or Mike Myers in the "Shrek" movies. That leaves "The Big Lebowski" as my default pick, even though I think it's probably the Coen Brothers' most overrated film. Of course, given that Addie has shown to not be much of a laugher, perhaps it's a moot point all around.
Byrd N. Hand
2023-05-09 17:54:52 +0000 UTCHey, look at that, it is free on Peacock (only one I checked). I thought it was still in that weird licensing/streaming/whatever Hollywood bullshit that still keeps us from streaming other movies, like "The Abyss".

2023-05-09 17:08:31 +0000 UTCI'm a fan of all of these, but I'm going with Anchorman just because I think it may yield the best reaction.
Luis Fernandez
2023-05-09 16:56:40 +0000 UTCThis is so not a contest. One of these movies is head-and-shoulders above the rest: Beverly Hills Cop! ππ

2023-05-09 16:50:46 +0000 UTCAnchorman is outrageously funny. Some surprising performances in it, too

Alex Tan
2023-05-09 16:21:38 +0000 UTCSpeaking of Don Simpson & Jerry Bruckheimer, the producers of Beverly Hills Cop (1984) & Top Gun (1986), I also suggest Flashdance (1983), Bad Boys (1995, directed by Michael Bay), Days of Thunder (1990), Crimson Tide (1995) (both DoT & CT are directed by Tony Scott), Dangerous Minds (1995) & The Rock (1996, also directed by Michael Bay) #MoreDonSimpsonAndJerryBruckheimerForAddieCounts

2023-05-09 16:14:29 +0000 UTCBeverly Hill Cop for sure. I used to like Happy Gilmore, but I won't watch it anymore.

2023-05-09 16:09:47 +0000 UTCHappy Tuesday, Addie. All are great, but my votes go to Beverly Hills Cop (1984, produced by Don Simpson & Jerry Bruckheimer) & Happy Gilmore (1996).
