Their creation stories are basically so close, I forgot that the Supernovas was an editor request and not just Oda being Oda again XD And yeah; the after math is really what I'm talking about. We are 15 years later and out of the 9 characters that were each created within like... 30 minutes; 2 are practically main characters, 1 is a major secondary player, 2 have their stories heavily tied to arcs, and 1 is directly related to a key component in one of said arcs. There's only 2 that it's safe to say are basically irrelevant side characters, and the only reason I'm not counting the 9th is that they just straight up haven't appeared properly yet; so there's still a non-zero chance they become the key to victory in some future arc, cause I don't think anyone would be surprised if it did.

And Oda was able to integrate them into the story quite easily because nothing was stopping him. The world of One Piece is so vast that it is quite easy to integrate rival pirates. It's rather what he does with them afterwards that is impressive lol

The group infamous for only existing because Oda thought this arc was going to be too boring without other people so he created 9 brand new characters in the span of a week. And while I do genuinely dislike the direction the story goes after a while, even I have to admit the fact that Oda managing to integrate 6 of the 9 new characters into the plot and world almost perfectly is so insanely impressive that I would be lying if I said I wasn't envious of his skills.
