It was a game of hackers. Everyone was a hacker here. Lille uses aimbot and intangibility, Shunsui used reverse damage hack and guaranteed kill bankai if one doesn't know what to do, Lille activated god mode and respawned after death, Nanao brought up a god slayer weapon. Who wasn't doing random things here? Hahah. Why does X-Axis has intangibility anyway. And god mode? So author saved Lille and he also brought up a hidden lore sword as somone mentioned above. "Soul King seal can't be broken by anyone aside from Ichigo" they said earlier. So yeah maybe this secret sword is what was used to cut the king's limbs too.

Gotta be honest; considering your reaction to Wan-Shi in A:TLA; I thought you'd be more freaked out at Lille's Owl form XD. Though I guess the fact that it's more "seraphim" than "owl" made it a bit more bearable for you lol Anywho; More points! (And a lot of them this time) 1) I think it's fairly accurate to say that this is the most controversial complete fight in the entirety of TYBW. (I say "complete" fight, because there are a few more later on that might be more disappointing; but those ones get a slight pass because Kubo had one foot in the grave the entire time he was writing and so people understand that he started cutting corners a little just to make sure he got to the end of the series.) Pretty much it's the same type of complaint that people have to what happened with Madara at the end of Shippuden; it's just too much to have him keep coming back and the way he ends up finally getting defeated kinda comes out of nowhere. But on the other hand, it also gives more characterization towards Shunsui and Nanao that we might not have seen if he had just won outright so; yeah, controversial and divisive to say the least. 2) The line about "Kyokotsu is Nanaos sword" is a strange one. It was the cliffhanger page of the chapter in the manga, so there was a lot of theorizing going on as to how she could be Nanaos sword spirit, only for Shunsui to say in the very next chapter "Well yes, but actually no" literally all of them. As for why Shunsui doesn't seem to use the small half of his sword for his Bankai; like everything to do with Shunsui, it's a bit abstract, but the way people understand it is that the older woman was originally Shunsuis only spirit, but when he was given Nanaos blade, his spirit split a part of herself off to for a child who's sole mission is to conceal the blade. So the reason he never seems to use her power is... he already is; she's constantly using her powers of "hide and seek" to make sure that the Ise Family Sword is never found. What this means for his spirit now that he doesn't have to do that? Not sure. Maybe Kyokotsu sticks around and Shunsui can make use of her powers in battle now, maybe he goes back to just having one spirit since her one job is no longer needed. Maybe he gets stronger since he now isn't using his power on something separate, or maybe he doesn't because that was Kyokotsus only role and now she's a permanent handicap. We truly don't know just yet. Though since Kubo has teased more Bleach in the future; maybe we'll get some answers then~ (Side note; well done on remembering the Zanpakto Rebellion Arc! Kubo may not have been directly involved in the writing, but he loved the designs of the Zanpakto Spirirts so much, especially Shunsuis, that he decided to make then the official designs. I imagine it was pretty wild to have Katen show up with her anime design back in the day cause it would've thrown into question "was that arc actually canon after all" into the fanbase.) 3) Not entirely sure if you picked up on it, but just in case you missed it; Nanao and Shunsui are directly related: She's his brothers' daughter. (Funny enough back when I was a lot stupider regarding spoilers then I am now; I actually mentioned that Nanao was Shunsuis niece when we first saw the two of them in the Soul Society Arc and you made a comment about how much of a flirt Shunsui seemed to be towards his lieutenant. Pretty sure you never saw that comment though, so allow me to thank your mods for protecting you from my stupidity XD) 4) Lets' get to the big one; Nanaos sword. The entire reason the fight continues in the first place is that Lille claimed that no Soul Reaper power could kill him. The reason that Nanao's sword does work is that it's not actually her power. The entire point of the sword is that it's able to repel the power of any enemy back on them. (Think of it like Itachis Yata Mirror from Naruto. Which is fitting since even though Kubo took more liberties with the design; both items are inspired by a real Japanese artifact that, according to legends, can reflect anything, even the powers of the gods). Why Lille can be damaged by his own abilities so much, not sure; but apparently it works. As I said in point 1 though: for a lot of people this is very "Black Zetsu"-esque in that requires something previously unknown to be randomly brought into the story at the last minute that just so happens to be able to kill the opponent because the good guys weren't able to. I know that a lot of people when TYBW started getting animated were hoping that there would be at least *some* foreshadowing about Nanaos blade (And to be fair there is... "one" bit of foreshadowing they added in the last cour. If you squint at it...) 5) This last point is pure speculation, but with the swords abilities, the fact that it has priests looking after it, and the fact that Nanaos mother was branded a traitor for "losing" it, there's a bit of evidence to suggest that the sword was one of, or possibly the only item that was responsible for separating the parts of the Soul King before trapping him in the crystal. Though we're probably going to need a deeper flashback to the Soul King to know for sure. Going to be really interesting to see next week. The next episode is massively later compared to when people were expecting it to be, and considering we're not 100% sure how many eps actually are left in the cour; it's going to be an experience for a lot of us~

This Quincy Lille Barro was also "defeated" before being respawned by yuha by Senjumaru and her crazy ass bankai with the tapestries and his tapestry also reflected his own powers back at him. So this guy was only ever defeated by his own powers. And yeah it pissed me off too how this guy just shrugged off Shunsui's bankai like it was nothing when we've been anticipating it for so long, it should be one of the strongest,

Lucky remember when senjumaru the chick from squad zero used her bankai an it showed the quincys dying with the curtains before they got saved. They died similar to how they did back then. Because in this episode this one killed himself with his own attack like he did in the previous season. An with the left hand dying by black sand or whatever too last season. Since kurotsuchi means something like black sand or earth. So theres that. So It was foreshadowed. I read this from someone else.

xDefil3d

Good episode overall. I would have really liked the anime to add more foreshadowing for the plot sword since it is straight up a deus ex machina that specifically counters this enemy.
