In case you missed, earlier versions before Nemu had cell division stopping problem, which led to death. Kuro created an artificial device for Nemu to facilitate cell division and it needs Nemu's brain to keep in check or it will keep over dividing cells. Pernida ate that device as it was in one of the glands, but didn't get the brain to control it.

2024-12-08 15:04:06 +0000 UTCI'm just glad this episode made up for the disappointment that I felt from the first half of the fight two eps ago XD Anyways; points!! 1) Pernida's line of "I have always been a Quincy" is something that does throw a lot of people for a loop; but with a bit of additional material from around, it points to the fact that the reason he says that is because the Soul King himself *was* a Quincy. (Or more accurately; a "true" Quincy; which is slightly different from the standard ones.) 2) Why is Szayelaporro here? Well; I could give an in-depth discussion about the themes of the battle and how it stands as an ironic counterpart to the battle he had against Kurotsuchi in Hueco Mondo; but in reality it's most likely that Szayel is a character Kubo has openly admitted he just loves to use and will basically find any excuse to add in if it even vaguely makes sense to do so. (theres a reason that the guy has a major role in 3 of the major extended universe stories lol) 3) Theres a line from the manga that was left out of the anime. In the manga, Mayuri explains that Perinda can technically regenerate, but because he now has Nemus body without the inhibitor; all the pieces of Pernida are now perpetually stuck in an endless cycle of regenerating, and dying, then regenerating, then dying again. (One of the more messed up fates in Bleach tbh) The fact the line was left out of the anime; *maybe* that's been retconned into simply having all his cells explode? But either way; Pernida doesn't show up again, so it doesn't really make all that much difference. 4) The Post credits scene? Mostly new. We have literally no clue what the deal with the Ywhach soldiers was; nor how Gizelle got the other girls zombified. Though the poem at the end was from Nanao; Shunsuis lieutenant. Make of that what you will~

It would make sense that pernida being advancement went with the quincies while mimihagi being stillness stuck with the soul reapers. But the both of them have their own minds and beings apart from the Soulking himself, that's how powerful he is
