I watched game of thrones since season 2 came out and maybe im wrong but as far as i remember season 7 wasnโt really hated when it came out. Back then it was criticized fairly and mainly only like the last few episodes of the season. I feel like the hate for season 7 started after season 8 was released. For me season 7 is still good i only disliked that it was little too much fanservice especially at the end of the season. But yes i canโt defend season 8 haha

When season 7 came out, it was not only the first non canon but first season being shortened below 10 episodes. People were very upset before even watching the episodes. I will say this season is where little issues start creeping up such as pacing, but by no means was season 7 a bad season. I've rewatched the show since it ended multiple times and each I get to season 7, it's apparant people called this wrong for the most part. I don't even want to get into anything too specific as to ruin anything for you. But I will say these issues go off the rails in the final season to the point that you can't not notice them. You will still enjoy season 8 nevertheless and I could see you telling everyone to shove it. But when that time comes, we can debate why season 8 is the worst season without spoiling anything for you.
