It's a lot like the 90's: do you want an album on CD or cassette? Take Optimus Prime...you can get a legends (cheaper, less space, but in the end a nice representation nonetheless) or the MP (better quality, but takes up more space and is more expensive). And of course mainline is like listening to the radio...a great song might come on, but there's a whole lot of crap in between. Sure, some people move on from cassette to CD or vice versa. I think the smartest thing for companies is to put out both MP and Legends versions of their figures. Just like Sony, Geffen, Universal etc. put out both cassettes and cd's of their artists. Double up on it!

I just got into collecting 3rd party transformers about a year and a half ago and pretty much went straight to legends exclusively for a fee reasons. Cost plays a factor for sure, but not as much as space and availability for me. I don't have a ton of space to display my collection and the amount of characters I wanted readily available in legends scale at the time was far larger than MP.
