Season finale 2006, movie 2019. No spoilers, but I must say as a fan of the series from its original run, I had VERY mixed feelings about the movie. Some elements I liked and others I didn't. As far as the cancellation and subsequent delay of the movie, that info is easy to find on YT.
Now that you've finished reacting to the series, if you decide to rewatch it recreationally, be sure to listen to the music over the closing credits of each episode. It's different each time, and complements the episode in some way, either with the lyrics or the overall tone.

You will not be seeing Cy return in the film because Powers Booth passed away in the decade + between Season 3 and the movie. In a way, that works. Cy's final scene feels like a good repesentation of the kind of person he was.
The Jen situation is sickening. "Feelings come first." is the only thing approaching a defense that you could have for it. She was just as worthy of moral consideration as Trixie was, but the man in charge cared more about Trixie, so the rest is history. Hearst walking away clean has Chinatown vibes. It's deeply unsatisfying. It's also true to life. The finale of Season 2 was wish fulfilment in many ways. Naturally, Season 3 wasn't going to go the same route. I'm not surprised by the outcome.
