The show is better the more you watch it... For example, the thing with Karl having a recording of Roman crying is a call back to S2, when Roman and Karl (and Laird) arrived on the yacht after being held hostage, Roman makes a joke about sharing a recording of Karl while he was having a panic attack. Another example, is Kendall getting to use "that's cuz you fucked it" on Roman because he cried at the funeral, being a call back to when Roman said that to him while Kendall was crying at the end of S3.
