Movie Nite #3: Conspirators of Pleasure & Belle de Jour
Added 2025-02-19 08:07:54 +0000 UTCI’ve been slacking a bit on these since Tết came around, but I still plan on doing these sketch pages weekly and posting them in full here. This week’s selection was Conspirators of Pleasure (1996) dir. Jan Švankmajer, and Belle de Jour (1976). I enjoyed both these films greatly, had no idea that one of my all-time favorite music videos (Scissor Sisters’ Invisible Light) heavily referenced the latter. I’ve also got to check out more of Švankmajer’s work, if the rest of his repertoire is anything like this film. Well then, you’ll probably get nightmares from Little Otik then, I haven’t seen that one yet but that’s a pretty creepy puppet!

2025-02-22 00:24:50 +0000 UTCOh man, that's definitely going to give me nightmares if I try to watch it, haha... The puppets in Conspirators of Pleasure were goofy enough I wasn't too disturbed by them, but just looking at the screenshots for that Alice adaptation is giving me shivers!
