Hello patrons,
Today I am sharing with you the results of an experiment. I was looking at print formats and decided to try out letter landscape (11 inches wide by 8.5 inches high). Unfortunately, I can't get staple-bound books in this format even with a low page count, which is what I originally wanted. But even though the perfect binding (pages glued to the spine) isn't quite what I'd call perfect, I'm still thinking about doing more with it.
You'll notice in the picture above that all I've done is reformat Great Monsters of Crime so that each page spread is now a full page. It's not the best way to use this layout, but it's giving me ideas. For example, I like landscape character sheets, and this format is perfect for including them in the book proper.
The best part about this layout though, is that the print costs are a slight bit cheaper than US Trade size, page for page, and it only requires about half as many pages for the same amount of content. Print books in the letter landscape format could be significantly cheaper than what I'm selling US Trade sized books for currently, without reducing net profits.
