The games they played in this episode actually had me DYING and also had me feeling some pride because there were some inside jokes that I was glad to be a part of.

2025-12-24 21:59:15 +0000 UTCAlso to clarify, when JK yelled it was cause he found another word ending with RYEOK meaning Jimin would have to find a new word that starts with RYEOK which is very very difficult, and they had already said most of the words starting with that. Ryeok has the meaning of like.. power or energy but it is not used on its own. A lot of times it is added to the end of a word to make it almost like adding -tion to a word in english. ImaginaTION etc. It needs more syllables with other meaning. So like i said Sang-Sang-Ryeok is imagination (like the ability/power to be able to imagine) and Sang-Sang by itself is also imagination or TO imagine. You would conjugate it and could make it into an adjective or verb depending on the ending, but the Ryeok ending makes it still a noun. Basically they were attacking eachother with words ending with Ryeok because it is probably one of the most difficult syllables to use in this game.

Since korean and english are structured so differently it is hard to make an english equivalent, but it is basically taking the last part of a given word and starting the next word with that ”letter” aka syllable. So if we take names it is easier. So take the name Jeon Jungkook. It is spelled 전정국. That is the syllable 전(Jeon) 정(Jung) 국(kook). Now in the game they were playing you would have to start the next word with Kook. Most nouns in korean are at least two ”blocks” aka syllables. For an english speaker it makes no sense at all if just looking at the translations, but if you listen to the words they are saying they would for example be saying like.. 상상력 (Sang-sang-ryeok) aka imagination. This word ends with the syllable Ryeok which is very rare for a noun to START with, it is usually the last syllable. So they also apply a spelling rule that is quite complicated but basically they can also start with Yeok instead of Ryeok and that is a lot easier, so then you would say 역사(Yeok-Sa) aka history, and then the next word should start with the syllable Sa. The english translations do not sound similar at all so it doesnt make sense with just the translations, i recommend if you are able to when they play word games to listen extra carefully because they often will repeat the syllable while thinking and go like Hmmmm Sa?… Sa???? Sa-rang! or something like that! Hope this explanation wasn’t too overwhelming, and i hope i can catch the next time you livestream ays!🫡💜
