Immobilized

I wrote the monologue version first as a short caption, but wanted to compare it with a first-person version.

Monologue only

Don't panic. Don't try to move or talk. It's the drugs that mess with your muscles a little. It's only for a little while. Less than a week, usually. I'll put on earphones and video goggles and it will feel like it's over in an instant. No, don't try to talk I said. Don't worry. No one thinks you are gone. No one is out looking for you. Now it's time to get a little sleepy

First person

Suddenly I am aware of a bright light as a figure walks into it. I can't quite focus on him, but he's incredibly fit, heavily tattooed, and almost naked. He's looming tall over me, where ever I am. "Don't panic. Don't try to move or talk." It's like saying don't think of an elephant. As soon as he said it I tried to move my arm without success. "It's the drugs that mess with your muscles a little. It's only for a little while. Less than a week, usually. I'll put on earphones and video goggles and it will feel like it's over in an instant." Again against his expressed instructions I do panic. Where am I? Why am I here? Who is he? Why is he doing to me? "No, don't try to talk I said." He must have seen me twitching. "No one thinks you are gone. No one is out looking for you." God, I hadn't even thought about that. I was walking from the store, wasn't I? It's like my memories are inside thick fog. "Now it's time to get a little sleepy" He reaches for something behind me and I hear a few clicks. From just above my head he picks up something and slides it down my face and everything gets dark. The goggles I presume. Then I feel the headset, a big around the ear type, placed around my head. There is a low hiss of white noise. I know I have to fight it, but everything in my body tells me to go to sleep. There's nothing I can do awake anyway.
