Another brief view into how music shapes my videos:
Added 2024-09-21 03:43:00 +0000 UTCAs the script nears completion (I'm so close and it's driving me nuts) this is the point where I really start to look for songs that will fit with the flow of it. I came across this beautiful piece by Space Cassette and was originally considering using it as background for when I discuss the 2022 Hunga-Tonga eruption (the song was released in 2022, so I thought it would be fitting). Usually I listen to the song on repeat for a bit to flesh out how I think things will snap together, but the more I listened to it the less I saw it as music for that sequence; all I could hear were cues for bits and transitions of the conclusion/end segment of the video. I already had a song picked out for that, but I genuinely think I might switch it up now, it's just working too well in my head.
This is hilariously ironic for two reasons:
A- The same thing happened with Scale of Mushroom Clouds. I had a song picked out for months until out of the blue, on a random listen of 30,000 Megatons (a song that a friend had actually suggested be in the video months prior), I saw the conclusion to that video in it and decided to make the change.
B- The song I replaced with 30,000 Megatons was Alpha by Vangelis, and the song that I had originally picked out for the ending of Scale of Volcanoes was Blade Runner Blues... from the Blade Runner OST... which was composed by Vangelis...
Obviously this isn't a guaranteed change, have to let it sit for a while to really know.

are you perhaps a fan of vangelis?
