2026-01-28 17:34:57 +0000 UTCI would highly recommend The Last Duel (based on a documented historical event) and The Green Knight, which is adapted from the Arthurian romance "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight".

2026-01-28 17:13:34 +0000 UTCA historical setting movie I really loved is "Master and Commander"

2026-01-28 16:56:13 +0000 UTCI don't like "Kingdom of Heaven" much because it's not really a good movie (sorry yes I know people love it but I had to say it). I just assume all of these are not good history though. BTW this is one of those badly skewed movies on Rotten Tomatoes with the professional reviews under 40% but the random person reviews up over 70%. Just an observation. Anyway it's not a terrible movie just not a great one and evidently not good history either.
James Melton
2026-01-28 16:40:14 +0000 UTCI have to be honest. I really wish you had decided to do historical setting movies every Sat instead of those (expletive deleted) 90s movies. Anyway, I'm pulling for the "13th Warrior" because I like it more than these others.

2026-01-28 16:37:36 +0000 UTCNice poll! A great companion piece to Braveheart is Rob Roy (1995) starring Liam Neeson and Jessica Lange.

2026-01-28 15:56:06 +0000 UTCHackers and Sneakers are clearly the movies patreons want, why watch the other two films with such low voting engagement?

2026-01-28 14:29:49 +0000 UTCDudes, The Count of Monte Cristo no contest. 13th Warrior be kicking some serious ass too.

2026-01-28 14:05:25 +0000 UTCIf you watch Kingdom if Heaven, well, there are many "King Arthur / holy grail / knights templat / crusades" movies! It's a deep well!!
Jon Johns
2026-01-28 11:19:17 +0000 UTCI recommend never seeing the theatrical cut of Kingdom of Heaven. The new edit with the added bit took it from a movie I hated, to one of my favorite Ridley Scott films; right up there with Bladerunner, Gladiator, and Alien.

2026-01-28 08:11:09 +0000 UTCAs this poll is about history, I am a historian by trade, I cannot tell you how much I despise Kingdom of Heaven and it's deliberate lies, of which it's director admits are lies. One of the better historical films to exist is a German film called Downfall. I would recommend that instead.

2026-01-28 06:59:20 +0000 UTCSome pretty good films. Kingdom of Heaven and Count of Monte Cristo are both great, but I'm gonna go 13th Warrior. Not many reactors get around to it, and it always makes me want to play D&D. Kingdom really is epic though.

2026-01-28 05:38:09 +0000 UTCUmm whereβs the vote for all option? β π 13th Warrior doesnβt get enough love, but each of these are great stories with so many beloved actors.
