It really shows how broken Jimmy is as a person. His genuine sincerity is so off-kilter from normal people's reactions and feelings that it comes across as insincere. But it is only surface level. Deep down he is ashamed of what he has done. So ashamed that he puts on this jovial, witty persona better known as Saul! It's crazy how they've turned the sleazy lawyer whose every line was a joke in BB to this deeply afflicted guy. Kim definitely finds more thrill and enjoyment out of scams compared to her legal work. Jimmy is the same. The reason Jimmy likes it so is, because he's so good at it, it's so much more effective than doing things the 'proper' way and he's pushed that idea onto Kim with this intro scene. Lalo is crazy. I don't think this is something ruinous to say, but the Director of Photography said that he likes to light characters' eyes with an array of lights in them as it makes them seem more human and soulful. You'll notice that Lalo's eyes are generally quite dimly lit or have just a single light, even when he's got a beaming smile on his face. It's so unsettling!
