That's actually a big part of the idea behind the One China Principle—that there really is one China, there's just a dispute between the PRC and the Republic of China (Taiwan) over who is the rightful ruler. And why i'm always joking about West Taiwan.

One wonders just how much the CCP had (has?) to do with the internal destabilization of the Peruvian government via 'The Shining Path'...?

Do you still do questions? I would like to ask your view on the following proposal:
I'm not an expert on history at all, but may we not as well reason it is China that belongs to Taiwan?
> Taiwan belonged to the Republic of China.
> The ROC was overthrown by the CCP/PRC
> The ROC retreated to Taiwan and established its government there
> The ROC, or the extended evolution of the ROC, remains there to this day
> That means the ROC retreated to Taiwan, an island that it already owned
> The ROC was displaced from China by war; this was not a legitimate or legal transition of power
> Hence: both China and Taiwan belong to the ROC
Valid or not, the people of Taiwan are happy in Taiwan. And that is what matters the most.
