Don's thoughts on Writing a Novel
Added 2019-11-10 14:02:45 +0000 UTCNow someone will ask "Don, who the f*** needs this post? Who do expect to get this to?"
Well, as you know, Don likes to write stuff that is both enjoyable and helpful so consider this my understanding of 1 year and 3 months of writing Web Novels.
So let's just say I am writing this for myself more than others but also for any of you guys who want to write but are still hesitant. (I won't talk in details too much)
First, let's talk about the Benefits of writing a Web Novel.
• It is a new Experience, because you get to do something that you never did before and get the feeling of a new kind of adventure.
• It keeps you Busy, because let's face it… most of us waste time on absolute shit.
• It makes you Money, and it is the best money you'll ever make. It is your own effort and work, you are your own boss.
• If you love Attention, it will give you all the Spotlight you need, I love attention and I thrive with praise. That's why I always ask for comments and interactions.
• It is Fun AF, cause why it can't be?
• You Learn stuff, if you have any idea how much vocabulary, grammar, general information and writing experience I learned, you'll be amazed.
• You get to tell a Story, I know it is the point of a novel but imagine it, a Story! Your Story! Your Ideas! Your Imagination! Your Kinks and Secrets!
• It is Escapism, but also facing Reality, Authors argued about novels being one of two but it is the two in my opinion.
Second thing I am talking about it How to Write a Web Novel.
• Let your Imagination be free, Picture a Theme, an Outline, a Plot, a Character, a World, Don't get shy.
• Don't make too many Rules, Keep it Simple, and that is the most important advice I can spare. Rules are important but binding your build to something makes it hard to write.
• Know your Readers, their age, their likes, their dislikes, talk to them, always reply.
• Before the Beginning, know the Ending, as it is the most important thing about a Novel. Some know how to start but suck at endings.
• Forge a World, I said Forge not Build because a world starts from a picture in your head, then a Map, then Areas of Interest. If you are bad at that, write about the real world because it is the only one there is.
• Connect yourself to the Story, You are not just the Author, you are the Real Hero. If you have a certain level of capabilities, skills and mental status, you will make those decisions and take those turns.
• Feel it, get Personal, cause how else can you nail it?
• And for Don's Personal Tip, F*** Editing! Seriously! That shit is annoying, fam... But you still need to Edit anyway.
And here it is. 15 Months of writing taught me that.
Now, I'll be taken your questions.
Why are you sharing this, Don? No idea.
Who will read it? Don't know.
Is it embarrassing to write? Yep!
Regret it? Nope!
Should I really write a Novel? GTFO!
