Update

Hi everyone!

I have been busy lately due to work related issues. Sorry for not being active! But I would like to give you some quick updates.

Eeevee Skin shader

Last month I was working a bit on some DoA models (mainly MR and Honoka), to properly update them for Blender 3.0/3.1. Working on them I realised that maybe the skin shader was a bit off. I tried to rework it, obtaining the results you see below on a random model.

The left one is the model using the old shader (the one on current Tifa and DoA models), while on the right the new shader is used (sorry for the hair color change, forgot to change it before rendering). I prefer the shader on the left, it seems more natural. But let me know what you think!

I don't know if this shader will be used on current or new models, I still have to test it a lot before deciding. Also your feedback is important. :)

Original character

I was testing the shader above and a lot of new features on a new model. I ended up completing it, here are some pics. You can change human/elf form inside the UI.

If you like it, I can release it here on Patreon. It's nothing special, again I used if for testing purposes and to have a character that can be used without any copyright issues to make previews for upcoming addons.

Simplicage

With Morelewd we are working on a new addon to simplify the addition of physics in the model through Blender cloth physics and cages. The following video explains better what I'm talking about. :)

I was also thinking of releasing the elf model above with a preview of the results using this model: just to let you have the idea of what the new addon is capable.

Shader hair bug in Blender 3.1 (FF characters)

There has been some issues lately with the hair in my models, in Blender 3.1. There is a known Blender bug/regression: https://developer.blender.org/T96537
If you enouncter similar problems there are two solutions:
- switch to Blender 3.0
- in Edit mode, Clean Up -> Merge by Distance. This will solve the problem, but it might create some artifacts due to the AO UV. If you see something strange in the mesh, go in the hair shader and remove the AO part.

Hi! Yes you're right, maybe SSS can be adjusted a bit. But in the UI there will be a setting to decrease SSS as always :)

The character looks great, really sweet. As for the shader it's hard to choose without a bigger image/model. Based on what I can see though, I'm sort of in the middle between the two... the one on the left looks like the subsurface scattering is a little heavy. Swinging the opposite way, the one on the right looks a little flat. Both of these are minor nitpicks as they both look good.
