Final Yidhari Update + Future Plans

Hey everyone, hope you all had a great thanksgiving to those that celebrate it. Just wanted to update you all to let you know the animation was finished up and send over for audio yesterday. Looking forward to seeing the results so I can share it all with you.

I also want to take a quick moment to thank all of you for being patrons here and supporting me. I seriously wouldn't be able to continue doing this for so long if I didn't have you all backing me. Over these past few years I feel like I've grown a lot, both as a creative and as a general human being, and I'm glad that you all have been a part of that journey in some way. I still want to continue doing this and growing my skills for as long as I can. So again, thank you all for being here <3

With this longer project finished up I always think its good to do a little reflecting about things learned and set path to whats next. I'll start with some thoughts on the Yidhari project first then go into future plans.

I started off by asking in my discord for some feedback on general things and what people would like to see for the animation. I appreciate everyone that gave the time to respond and it helped me figure a lot of things out while I was in my planning stage. There's a lot in there I wanted to include but sadly couldn't quite fit in but still helps set a direction or even gives ideas for future animations. I also could have did a better job with my planning phase but I was running out of time and had to get something started. I set a deadline for the end of november for this animation, so I had to take some shortcuts once I realized how long this would end up being and some parts aren't as polished as I wanted them to be. But for having an animation thats roughly 1m40s I'm still ok with what I was able to make given the time frame. I think it was a good practice in making the most of limited time, kinda similar to the animation challenges I've done in the past where I make an animation in a day. Those very push you to make choices towards whats important and not spend as much time on little details that are easy to get caught up in and that was very much the case here. Overall I think things turned out good and the animation set out to do what I was going for.

So with another big project down, whats next on the horizon? I'll jot down a few different thing, the main thing here is just take a break from longer projects like this and do a few smaller more experimental projects. I can only do a long project like this every so often, I really need breaks inbetween to mix things up and learn new things so I can avoid burnout. So what do I have in mind?

- Mixed media animations: This basically means just combining elements of 2D+3D. I want to collab with some other artists to animate some images. There are a few artists out there that start with 3D as a base and then "paint" over them in another software like photoshop or krita. A good example of this is Eclair's work. I've actually reached out to him about doing a collab where he'll basically draw on extra details and I'll animate. I've got the base ground work figured out and there's still a lot of technical bits to figure out, but this should be a fun little side project that'll turn out quite unique imo. You can almost imagine this as something similar to a live2D style animation if you're familiar with that, except I'm doing the work in blender.

- Less loop, more unique short animations: Loop animations have always been my bread and butter. These are just really fun and satisfying to nail down which is why I've done them for so long. But I do want to start doing more unique animations as well. Stuff that's still short, but can capture a sexy idea thats just a one shot kinda thing. Think of the Jane Doe/Brown Dust 2 animation I did back a few months ago. Just smaller projects that be good animation practice and allow for some more unique ideas.

Those are the bigger ones I wanted to touch on, next are just some more direct ideas for animations I want to do at some point
-More Vtuber content
-Revisiting Frieren and Fern (the head meme and s2 announcement got me interested again)
-Some kind of anal animation (I've gotten an improve butthole setup that I'm curious to try out)
-New squish tech to try out

I think that's about everything for now. I'm sure more ideas will come and go but a lot of this stuff just came to mind while working on the last project, so I wanted to write them down to help remind me and also to give you all something to look forward to.
