[Episode] Movies Need to Shut Up

I've talked about this topic on multiple weekly updates before, and it seemingly all began from a grudge I hold against Inside Out 2. That was the first movie I watched where I deliberately kept track of how long the pauses between dialogue are, and my god it was infuriating to realize how wordy that movie is.

Once you got into that mindset, however, it seemingly ruins all Hollywood movies for me. Seemingly every major Hollywood production, especially the films made for streaming, is filled to the brim with yapping.

I've been giving this trend a lot of thought, for multiple months. And now, I present to you the cause of all of this, as I interpreted it: It's all because we live in a car-centric, expensive to access reality.

I was thinking about this. For myself, if I hit a stretch of movie with no conversation, I pay MORE attention. I think that there's this subconscious feeling of "I can't tell what's happening by listening; I'd better pay attention."

The death of third spaces / public spaces is going to have effects we can't even fully predict, and I doubt many of those effects will be positive.
