Patreon Update!

If you’re not already in-the-know, I’ve been posting regular-ish project updates over on brutalmoose.com, so if you’re ever interested in knowing what I’m working on, I’ve been trying to be a little more transparent about my work over there.
If you’re unaware of my website, then you might also be confused about why I didn’t charge Patrons for a couple months, only to resume charges this month. Long story short, I was feeling really guilty about taking money from you guys during a time when my video/stream output rate was so slow. My initial plan was to close Patreon out entirely, but I’ve since readjusted my Patreon Plans thanks to some very kind and Passionate Patrons who reached out to me while I was considering closing up shop.
I’m keeping the Patreon around, but going forward I’m not going to be shy about pausing it occasionally. If I feel like I’m not delivering enough content to justify charging everybody, I’ll simply pause it for the month and make a quick announcement post. For a while I let Patreon weigh on me, because I really don’t like taking money that I feel I haven’t earned. But if I’m open to pausing it during months where I’m slower than usual, I’m hoping that pressure will subside and instead be replaced with a renewed drive to really earn that support.
So thank you all so much for sticking around! I’m so sorry for not posting announcements about this as I was doing it, I was pretty unsure about where I’d end up with Patreon and was too nervous to post an update here until I was sure about what I wanted to do. I’m happy with the current plan, though, and honestly I’m stoked to still have the Patreon credits at the end of my videos. My end card wouldn’t quite be the same without them!
Thanks again for sticking with me! I hope everyone is doing well, given the current state of the world. And again, be sure to check my website if you ever want some more updates from me! I like to post there because it doesn’t send out alerts when I make a post, and sometimes you just want to make a post without shoving it in everybody’s face at once, you know?
Also, I'm going to get back into the habit of posting my new videos here to Patreon. I stopped because I kind of felt like it might be an annoyance to people? But that's just me overthinking things again. Posting my work here is like half of the entire point of the website, so how did I manage to convince myself it was annoying? No clue.
Anyway how have you guys been? Watch any good TV lately? I'm currently watching Fargo for the first time... pretty good so far!

You are someone I’ve subscribed to on YouTube for multiple years. I forget how far back until I watch stream archives or old videos and be like wow I was there back then! You’re also the only person I subscribe to on Twitch. Even when you don’t stream for a while I’m always happy to support you in whatever you’re working on. You’re always so chill and I enjoy your humor and personality and has just been one of those consistent things in my life. You’re doing great Ian. Try not to be so hard on yourself. You’ve heard it before, but my wife and I watch your content a lot. My wife needs to sleep to something familiar and comfortable, so we also stream your stuff at night. I’ve fallen asleep and woken up to your content for 5 years. It’s cheesy, but supporting you is a privilege to me. I used to dream about having enough to give back. Now I can. I’m glad I still can. And I’m glad you feel better. Thanks for all you do!

It takes a lot of effort to make content, especially when you are keeping up with multiple platforms, working on videos, music, and art. I only recently visited the website but I liked the art on it. :) I just recently finished watching all of House, and now I'm watching all of Dexter. Loved House, and Dexter is pretty good too so far.

I consume so much of the stuff you make, streams, VODs and videos (I have your VODs playing as background noise alllll the time), and I appreciate it enough to want to help support you, so you can continue to create whatever you want! please do whatever makes you feel the least stressed and most comfortable as far as charging people goes, but I also personally really don't mind being charged for a month in which you haven't released any videos, so no sweat either way! EDIT - I love the sick flaming text graphic on your site

Same reason I use my Prime sub on your Twitch despite not being able to make basically *any* stream: I watch the VoDs so I'm happy to give at least a bit back as my thanks. :)

One of the main reasons I wanted to be a patreon here is that I think it's incredibly cool someone can make income through making their own artistic content without being associated with a huge corporation. I like that you can be your own boss and I want to support that, at whatever pace you want to make content at. Also, I've really only been binge watching the Nanny. I really need to find something else to check out.

2021-03-05 18:45:33 +0000 UTCGlad to see that everything has turned out well. Introduced my S.O to some old school anime. They are 30 and had never seen Cowboy Bebop. Which is a sin, in my opinion. As for newer shows, recently watched Chernobyl. But unless you want a heavy experience, I would recommend skipping it. Otherwise it's a perfect miniseries.
