Exloring an Unlabled VHS Tape - Mystery Tapes

Holy CRAP. It's a video. Can you believe it?

Oh my god it's been so long since I've posted something that I've lost my ability to write Patreon posts. I keep writing stuff and deleting it and I'm getting nowhere. Which is oddly a great transition into why there hasn't been a video in a while - lots of work without getting anywhere.

Since my last upload I've nearly completed a couple of videos before stepping away from them, mostly due to being in a creative rut. I've just been struggling with deciding what I want to make, forcing myself into projects I'm not really interested in, and mostly just feeling burned out.

The good news is - I had a blast with this video! Really enjoyed working on a full Mystery Tapes series, I loved filming on VHS, and I'm really happy with how everything turned out. I'm hoping that means that I'm pulling out of my video slump, because I genuinely do wish I was uploading more frequently. So thank you very much for sticking with me! I'm not sure what I'm working on next, but I definitely plan to make more Mystery Tapes soon.

Don't forget that I stream on Twitch! I've been trying to get in the habit of streaming more, so be sure to drop and say hello by if that's your kind of thing. Also, I've re-done my website (with professional graphics), and I plan on occasionally posting stuff there!

That dairy queen commercial was your kind commercial, wasn't it? I know it gave me "little Ian" vibes. :D

This video was a trip, Ian! I didn't grow up in the Midwest, but I lived there recently for grad school, and I can't believe that Menards jingle is so old. Also, I love being painfully reminded how the 90s was one giant sin against fashion. Crazy how playing video games was considered so nerdy back then. Can't imagine kids getting teased for it now. About your creative rut - go easy on yourself. Not everything you do can be a home run. It's natural to go through slumps, but don't let yourself burn-out! It's really hard to fully recover from that. I find having a couple of projects to work on at any one time is helpful, if it's possible. When you get stuck on one, you can step away from it and get some distance while still being productive on the other. It can help you get out of your head for awhile and shift your mindset.

I just discovered your channel and quickly binged my way through it while working from home. I thoroughly enjoyed every bit, and especially love this new direction you're working with. Vintage nostalgia and pop culture history ftw! Just know that while you might be in a creative rut of sorts, this new fan greatly appreciates all your hard work. I can't wait for the next mystery tapes!

And so dawns a new era of content. I for one can't wait to see what's to come, I love this idea
