If there's one thing I'm worse at than writing scripts, it's writing a script for two people. There's just something about putting words in people's mouths that I'm not super comfortable with. Even if I'm close friends with the person, I don't know EXACTLY what they would say, nor do I have their sense of humor, so it's always... awkward. But sometimes, we have to power through. Sometimes we gotta do what we gotta do. SOMETIMES... I must write for someone else. Kind of. I mean, I can't ask over and over "what would you say in this situation?" That would take too long. So instead, I write a script as I normally do, but note what lines belong to the other person. In this specific script, I've highlighted his lines in a light blue. Then, when I have the script done, I'll send it over to him and let him re-write his lines, though he still has to make sure his words make sense in between my lines. So, basically, I'm giving him a framework for how to get from point A to point B (my lines), but he gets to rewrite it in his own words. Still, I have to guess at his opinions. I have to get as close as I can to what he'd say, that way the flow is still there after the re-writes. It's a weird process that's a bit uncomfortable, but can really turn out nicely! I'm really looking forward to this collab, I think it's going to be a lot of fun. Back to writing!
