Monthly Update: Visionary Edition

Another month is ending, which means another monthly update! My health saga has by now mostly come to end and my eyesight is now as good as it is probably going to get anytime soon. My left eye still gets weird sometimes after straining it too much and I occasionally look like a cartoon character when the pupil size decides to do its own thing, but things could have ended up much worse, so I'm not complaining (much).

As for the infamous Offcuts 0.4 release, I already dusted off the game data files and started going through any TODO's I still have left. Fortunately, there are not many. I'm probably going to give a read-through or two and see if I spot any issues, but other than that it has been "mostly ready" for a long time by now.

A bit more interesting question is how do I continue after releasing Offcuts 0.4. Previously, I had planned to either retire from this hobby or continue with a bit more advanced 3D stuff, as I have previously mentioned, depending on how my eyesight recovered. Things are looking pretty good for now, so I'm trying to continue if nothing goes wrong. I might have to balance my screen-staring time a bit more carefully than previously not to strain my eyes too much, but as long as I get any fun out of this I don't see a reason to stop. I already have some good full 3D prototypes ready, which should also make my content production more efficient. Producing and managing 2D art can in many cases be much more cumbersome than real 3D. But more of that when it becomes relevant.

As always, I'm not going to take any Patreon payments until Offcuts 0.4 is out (I'll temporarily suspend my Patreon at the end of each month until then). Thanks for your endless patience!

As long as you enjoy working on the project.

I for one can understand if you choose to let the project go for health reasons. That said I would much prefer smaller, if infrequent, updates released at a pace that does not tax your eyesight and health. After all, it is always sad to see an amazing project get dropped even when the author has to do so for health reasons.
