Love the marriage topic since I got married last Sept on our 13th dating anniversary date. I never really had a desire to marry--I didnt have family pressure, no religious influence, and no good examples of successful marriages in my life.
Around 9 years into my current relationship, my perspective shifted. I began to see marriage as a powerful ceremony and active choice to verbalize, symbolize, and celebrate our love. AND to celebrate 13 years of love we already shared--no easy feat!
To this person, I share my experience. The whole process had powerful psychological and emotional impact on us. Getting engaged, planing the wedding, writing private vows, doing the wedding, and honeymoon--each step brought value and joy. I'm so happy we went through with it!

Dr. Honda, do you or Bob (or does anyone else) know the name of the author for the Betwixt and Between book mentioned? I tried looking it up, but it turns out there are many books and papers with this title.
